Israeli air strikes targeted an UNRWA flour distribution centre surrounded by tents housing forcibly displaced Palestinians in Khan Yunis, southern Gaza. The UN facility played a crucial role in providing food aid, which is under severe strain in the enclave as a result of Israel's continued siege and closure of all crossings into the Strip. The attack left dozens dead and injured, many of them women and children who had sought shelter near the centre in hopes of receiving basic supplies.
