As our museum is shutting this week in anticipation of our huge renovation project, we thought that we would feature one of our most prized items - our beautiful Double Manual Harpsichord in Handel's Music Room - as #ObjectOfTheWeek today. (1/4)

While Handel did not own this specific harpsichord, he was known to have played one made by Kirckman at the house of his friend, Anne Donnellan, in 1755. #ObjectOfTheWeek (3/4)

Jimi's red velvet jacket is our #ObjectOfTheWeek. It came from the London designer boutique, Hung on You, owned by Michael Rainey, whose customers included The Beatles, The Kinks, The Who and The Rolling Stones. (1/4)

After the gig, the jacket got ripped in a brawl. To make up for this, John McCoy, the club's proprietor, took the jacket from Hendrix to get it repaired. However, when he tried to return it to Jimi, McCoy was told to keep it instead! How lucky! #ObjectOfTheWeek (3/4)

Jennens was a wealthy landowner, patron of the arts and librettist. He compiled the words for Handel's #Messiah in September 1741 (around this same time but 280 years ago!) #ObjectOfTheWeek (2/3)
