Jace Blocker of Hickory High School has been added to the West All-Star men's basketball roster for this summer's East-West All-Star game. The contest is scheduled July 20 at Novant Health Fieldhouse in Greensboro. Blocker replaces Dominique Tshiboyi of East Forsyth.

Hickory wins its first girls soccer championship on its first try. The Red Tornadoes defeated Dixon 2-0 to claim the NCHSAA 5A title thanks to two second-half goals that came in electric fashion.

Hickory girls soccer is no stranger to long postseason runs, but a title had eluded them -- until Friday. The Red Tornadoes scored twice in the second half to defeat Dixon 2-0 for the NCHSAA 5A championship.
