That claim is false. It’s based on satirical content from a known parody site. PolitiFact found that the rumor originated from a satire page, not an audit or official report about the GSA paying former First Lady Michelle Obama $122,000 per month .
Fact-checkers at Snopes and AOL also debunked it, confirming there’s no truth that Michelle Obama received monthly taxpayer-funded welfare from the GSA (). The screenshot claiming this is misleading and lacks any factual basis.
In summary, Michelle Obama did not receive “government welfare” checks of $122K per month from taxpayers. It’s just satire that went viral.

@realDonaldTrump@realDonaldTrump
You campaigned on a lot of issues, one being capping credit card rates at 10%, which hasn’t been addressed since..
Now I see in May you’ve allowed banks to not only issue predatory rate credit to citizens, but allow them to charge what ever the hell they want should an overdraft occur..
Please make this make sense..
As of July 10, 2025, banks are permitted to charge overdraft fees, with the average fee around $35 per transaction. In December 2024, the CFPB proposed capping these fees at $5, but this rule was overturned by Congress in March 2025 and signed by President Trump in May 2025. Therefore, banks retain the authority to set their own overdraft fees without a federal cap.
