@adamhlavac Envious of anyone who doesn’t have to travel an ungodly distance for 1.43 15/70.
Imagine living within walking distance of one.
I wish there was one in a major city within every state. I wish new projectors would be manufactured.
@RossbackTyler@SaveYourCinema Ifyou’re hardcore you’ll see both to compare. Nolan is a staunch proponent of his work being seen on film. A good 70MM presentation is incredibly rich, and has a magical quality digital can’t replicate.
70MM IMAX on a 1.43 screen will be the gold standard for this release, tho.
@RossbackTyler@SaveYourCinema Regular 70MM has five perforations per frame. The film is double the size of 35MM, which has four perfs per frame IMAX 70MM is 15 perfs and runs horizontal through the projector.
If it’s 1.43 laser IMAX, by all means. If it’s 1.90 xenon IMAX, I would lean regular 70MM.
@ERCboxoffice If you factor in the merch sales it’s Titanic on steroids (that’s the cope I keep seeing from whatever apologists remain for this moribund franchise).
@poddtadre Week 1 crowds tend to be the most excited, though, and are more apt to lock in. Week 2 you get the Johnny Come Latelys.
If your neck can handle it, just try to sit near the front. The back rows are the most disruptive. And you can’t see phones if everyone is behind you.
@unikunka Horror continues to be a golden goose. Comedy meanwhile continues to be an utter dead end. I was trying to think of how many smash hit comedies there’ve been since theatrical got disrupted in 2020…outside of animated kids movies that contain laughs, nothing major comes to mind.
@Drunk3po The problem is they have a Ryan Gosling movie coming that’s specifically designed to set up a subsequent cycle of films with goddamn Rey.
If Starfighter bombs but they’re already in production on Rey 1, we’re taking total nightmare scenario.
@NCseventeen More towards love but it’s not exactly perfect. The concept and atmosphere are just so good, ditto the lead actors. Very eerie and disorienting. Will surely become a franchise where they’ll get some runway to expand and fine-tune.
@ERCboxoffice It was obvious as soon as the teaser trailer dropped this was going to be a smash that blew away initial forecasts. The kids were nuts about the online content for it.
A film with such avant garde and surreal underpinning being this big of a hit is pretty neat to see.
@DavidPoland IMAX is surely regretful they couldn’t get in on this release because of stupid Star Wars commitment. A lot of other PLFs scrambled to add late shows of Backrooms (which Disney is surely livid about).
@realsashastone@MarkLikesMovies I thought it was total junk with an utterly loathsome protagonist. The girl was good though. She’s just forced to be an obnoxious, ridiculous psychopath for 90 mins because of “magic.”
