@tonywmiller There are as many styles of effective coaching as there are effective offenses or defenses. Thank goodness—otherwise we’d all be doing it the same way.
BASKETBALL IS SIMPLE
Winning Basketball is not about complicated sets, or the ability to make tough shots. It’s about being disciplined and consistent in the simple things that happen the most in the game…. Finishing possessions with rebounds, taking care of the basketball, keeping your player in front on defense, etc.
Master those, add in your highlight plays, and you have winning basketball!!

@fudsfairy88 @mhuntnba314@DagsBasketball Agreed. I wouldn’t waste a defender on inbounder. I think coach told defensive big to sag and held protect and simply got burned by a bank shot.
@nofacecuts @Mike_Jagacki@ChampProduction Agreed. And no need to be out of bounds anyway. I’m always yelling “hold the sideline!” But it only requires a foot up to the edge. But the overall point is still a good one. For whatever reason—especially at HS level—players get tempted to speed dribble along sideline.
A note to 🏀 parents that have a child playing their last year in travel ball:
We see your sacrifice. We know the financial burdens the ride has taken you on. We know you’ve missed work, obligations, and more. You’ve put everything aside to try to make your child’s dream become a reality.
You are applauded and commended! Take this summer and breathe a little and enjoy the games. Enjoy the travel. Enjoy all of it. It will be over soon and you’ll miss it. Even the bad parts.
