"A little yeah
But then I used my critical thinking skills and realized it's at the end of the day still you."
A shrug and he's pulling the other closer.
"Don't run this time.
Have a drink with me?"
He lets go of the other's wrist taking a step back to quietly observe the other. The gunslinger's expression doesn't give it away, but his eyes give away how he's feeling.
"When you discovered I wasn't a human, did that make you afraid of me ?"
"I ain't busy, so need to worry."
He wanted to savour this just for a bit longer, his work was important but so was his bonds with his friends.
Hands gently run over the scratch.
"Whoever did this better sleep with both eyes open."
Vincent seems to genuinely want to stay and be around Cid — there must be a reason. Perhaps it wouldn't be such a bad idea to ask the gunslinger what happened. "That's fine, but I don't want to keep you from your work if you're busy Cid."
He had noticed the scratch but it wasn't his place to ask about it, he knew what Vincent was like one wrong move and the other would be gone.
And so he just went to sit with him, he could still see the sky from here so he didn't mind.
"We can just sit here then, I got time."
The sky is somewhat clear, a few clouds. Cid is correct some of the the clouds do make silly shapes. Vincent sits down in the grass, in the shade made by the wing of Cid's plane. "No —" it is rather unusual for him to be this social, something is clearly up but the gunslinger
"Looking up at the sky of course, ain't she beautiful.. Sometimes the clouds make silly shapes."
A small smile and he is rubbing the back of his head.
"Do you need me for somethin' it's usual for you to be social like this and not napping."
He's standing there staring at him, a slight smile comes to the gunslinger's lips. He doesn't need anything, his gaze travels to the sky. "What were you looking at ?" There's a visible scratch on Vincent's cheek, he must have been in a fight.
"Except he has more experince then me so I have to up my game!
Can't have myself being beat by him no matter what."
He takes the remaining feather out and hands it to Cloud.
"If you were to ask me where about my life was going I would never of thought of being with you guys"
"Except in all the time I've known him, he's failed to make me laugh or smile even once with his odd shenanigans. I think that's proof enough he's got no chance."
Then again, he felt no one had a chance. It wouldn't be easy.
Places the feather aside and starts feeling for the second one. Hopefully it's just two.
"Is that a fact? Awfully confident of him to assume he'd make me crack a smile."
"Nah we ain't doing it for gil, just a silly little bet the little weasle is certain he can make you smile before I can.."
Grumbles.
"I'll prove him wrong just you wait and see."
"A bet?"
Finally locates one of the feathers in his hair, carefully pulling it out.
"Good luck, 'cause I ain't smiling just so you pocket some extra gil."
