Today we commemorate #Juneteenth, a celebration of the end of slavery in the U.S.

Juneteenth marks a day in 1865 when enslaved Texans learned they would be free — 2 months after the end of the Civil War and 2½ years after Abraham Lincoln issued the Emancipation Proclamation.
