And we finalized!
Happy merge all. This is a big moment for the Ethereum ecosystem. Everyone who helped make the merge happen should feel very proud today.
@EmmaBostian I felt the same way on my first flight when my daughter was a few months. We sat next to an older gentleman who was by himself. Was so worried that he would be agitated next to a crying baby. Instead he talked about missing his kids at that age and wish he travelled w/ them more.
@mathtick@SEECRITS Nothing dodgey on-chain wise, though seems by designed. 140K KYC registered wallets for the drop (w/ 2 claims each) but only 55K deeds = gas war. You still need to pay gas for failed mints, in this case, the average gas was 3K (reports of some paying upwards to 12K).
Of course, gas optimizations are only one part of the equation.
You need a better mint mechanism design (allowlist, Dutch auction) + gas optimizations.
Money spent on gas is money that could go to builders. This takes place both via the design of the mint + the smart contract.
A number of people have asked me for tips.
One method that we use often at @SyndicateDAO is:
1. Allowlist a subset of addresses
2. Give them a limited amount of time to mint
3. Allowlist the next subset. Repeat until minted out.
This prevents everyone trying to mint at once.
@tlakomy Touched the tail end of Backbone.js in 2014 before Angular 1.x took off. Fast forward to 2022, I was reading the source for a project at work and saw a "models/collections" directory. I realized this project was just as old as my career...
Long-lasting games are centered around strong core mechanics. This creates intrinsic motivators to retain players. It will be interesting to see original NFT games and their player count when financial incentives dwindle.
Gas wars is a digital form of people waiting 10+ hours for a release, knowing their chances of copping are slim. Favors folks with the most resources to waste, and the company running the drop. Classic hype ploy, but sadly $ is the asset consumed. #OthersideMeta
But, now with a money-native blockchain, DeSo can align everyone not on ads, but on direct monetization to creators.
The more money creators make, the more transactions flow through the DeSo network, and the more valuable the $DESO currency becomes.
Best quote I heard around NFTs: "NFTs are a node around which communities can gather, a living evolving piece of art, a performance that we are witting or unwitting participants in." - Kevin Abosh
Stumbled onto a DAO rabbit hole, uncovering so much thoughts around metagovernance, the future of work, society, culture, community, and art. It's mind-boggling to see these foundations be laid out, and how it will impact the way my children think about these things in the future
I'm fortunate to have been exposed to gaming at an early age. Little did I know, this would help construct my understanding of the "metaverse" and my digital identity. #Runescape, #CounterStrike, #LeagueOfLegends ...you've taught me so much, while having so much fun.
