Remember to watch for signage, slow down in work zones and keep your eyes on the road when driving through Magoffin County project areas. #NWZAW#Orange4Safety
Work is ramping up on the Mountain Parkway Expansion project!
Project manager Aric Skaggs outlines the new construction that will start in Wolfe County this year, the progress happening in Magoffin County, and accomplishments from 2021.
Up the Mountain
The new parkway alignment in Magoffin County is at a higher elevation than the existing roadway. These embankments are supported but a large amount of fill material and culverts for proper drainage and water flow.
By this time next year, there will be active construction in both Magoffin and Wolfe County. There's a lot to look forward to with the Mountain Parkway Expansion, and we're continuing to make progress!
It's all happening... we're nearing the finish line for the Morgan County segment. Another 8-miles of wider, faster, safer travel lanes on the Mountain Parkway!
The road to Kentucky’s future must be paved. There are only six legislative days remaining. Invest in our infrastructure & raise the gas tax! #kyga21
TRAFFIC ALERT: Beginning Friday (12/11), traffic will transition to newly-opened lanes, just before the Morgan-Magoffin County line in Morgan Co., near the 62.5 Mile Marker.
This traffic switch will eliminate the S-Curve drivers previously had to follow. Please drive carefully.
🚧 Project Update: Crews will be tearing down the old bridge at the 62.5 Mile Marker in Morgan County in order to make way for constructing a new bridge in its place. This bridge will be the last bridge to be constructed on the Morgan County segment.
