Incredible evening at @mcnallyjackson diving into Jon Fosse’s ‘A shining’ (Kvitleik). Kudos to translator Damion Searls & literary critic Merve Emre for an enlightening discussion on the work of @NobelPrize in Litterature @JFosseOfficial. Great crowd attending, incl @NorwayMFA.
Three brave Norwegian authors presenting their colourful graphic novels in the land of manga! Great meet with translators and editors, under the auspices of the agency for 🇳🇴literature abroad, NORLA. @NorwayinJapan
Mr Masud Gharahkhani, President of the🇳🇴Parliament, started his visit to Japan in Hiroshima. The city and the peace museum, where he met atomic bomb survivor Ogura Keiko, made a strong impression at a time where some again make threats to use nuclear weapons. @NorwayinJapan
A great pleasure to present to Ms Yamase Rio the Royal Norwegian Order of Merit. An artist, teacher and communicator, she creates cultural bonds between 🇳🇴and 🇯🇵, spreading Norwegian folk music in Japan and making the Hardanger 🎻fiddle sing for us! @NorwayinJapan@rioyamase
International House in Tokyo celebrates its 70 years and has made a nice (English language) film about its three groundbreaking architects. One of them was Yoshimura Junzo, who later designed our beautiful 🇳🇴Embassy in Tokyo! @NorwayinJapan@I_House_Japan
This impressive report is written and illustrated by a schoolboy in Saitama prefecture, presenting Norwegian culture, society, economy and more in a wonderful way! We at the 🇳🇴Embassy thank him and his teacher warmly for sharing it with us. @NorwayinJapan
Did you know that a Norwegian was among the first 🍺brewers in Japan? Johan Thoresen from Arendal came to Japan as William Copeland after a stint in the US. His “Spring Valley Brewery”, founded in 1869, was eventually taken over by Kirin. His grave is in Yokohama. @NorwayinJapan
Great meeting with Mr Fujiki of Yokohama Port Authority! We visited the dock where 12 September 2022 #StatsraadLehmkuhl will arrive after crossing the Pacific Ocean on its #OneOceanExpedition. The ship left 🇳🇴 in August and is now somewhere in the Caribbean....@NorwayinJapan
At the 26th International Conference for Women in Business, the 🇳🇴 quota system for listed company boards was explained by ch. d’aff. Line Aune. The system has inspired many and has demonstrated that well qualified women are not that difficult to find - anywhere! @NorwayinJapan
