This Father’s Day, we celebrate the fathers, grandfathers, caregivers, and father figures whose love, guidance and dedication help strengthen our families and communities.
Thank you for showing up, leading with compassion, and creating opportunities for future generations.
And while we celebrate Father’s Day, it’s also important to recognize the challenges many dads face and ensure that they have the support they need to thrive.
Did you know? At least one in 10 men suffer from postpartum depression during the perinatal period, which includes pregnancy and the year following birth.
Juneteenth commemorates the day freedom finally reached the last enslaved people in the United States on June 19, 1865. Today, we honor this history and reaffirm our commitment to racial justice, equity, and collective liberation.
Millions of Latinos carry African ancestry and Afro-Latino identity, connecting our communities through shared histories, struggles, and resilience. Our liberation stories are deeply intertwined.
At Hispanic Federation, we stand in solidarity with Black communities as we continue the work of building a more just and equitable future for all. ¡Contigo en la lucha!
Today, nearly 100 Latino nonprofit leaders, philanthropy partners, and community advocates gathered in Wisconsin for our second annual #HFEncuentroMidwest to strengthen connections, share strategies, and advance a collective vision for our communities.
At a time when Latinos are facing rising costs and new challenges, gatherings like this create space to organize, advocate, and lead. Throughout the day, participants explored advocacy strategies, community-centered fundraising, workforce challenges impacting Midwest Latino communities, voter education and mobilization ahead of the 2026 midterms elections, and AI opportunities and challenges.
The conversations, partnership, and ideas shared here will extend far beyond this room, helping build stronger organizations and a more resilient future for Latino communities across the Midwest.
Thank you to our partners and every leader, advocate, and organization for joining us. Thank you for everything you do for NUESTRA COMUNIDAD!
Last night we kicked off #HFEncuentroMidwest with a welcome reception bringing together nearly 100 Latino nonprofit leaders, partners and community advocates from across the Midwest.
During his opening remarks, our President & CEO Frankie Miranda reminded us that while our communities continue to face real challenges, we also continue to move forward with resilience and determination. He emphasized that Encuentro is more than a gathering, it’s an opportunity to raise our voices, strengthen our collective impact, and help shape what comes next for Latino communities across the Midwest.
Thank you to @MayorMKE and our host organization @ForwardLatino for joining us, sharing inspirational remarks, and supporting our community.
The work continues. Stay tuned for more updates from #HFEncuentroMidwest

This past Saturday, we celebrated 20 years of Vive Tu Vida! Get Up! Get Moving! alongside our longtime partners National Alliance for Hispanic Health and Healthy Americas Foundation.
For two decades, this signature event has brought together hundreds of families across NYC to promote healthier lifestyles through free health screening, wellness resources, physical activities, nutrition education, and community connection.
We are building healthier, more equitable communities for generations to come.
Special thanks to all our partners for helping make this year’s celebration possible.
Hispanic Federation's Crear Futuros program partnered with more than 60 mentors to support over 900 mentees across the country through this academic year. This year, roughly 55% of our mentor cohort graduated with their undergraduate degrees, while the remaining 45% are on track to graduate next year. This is a testament to the strength, resilience, and dedication of our students and mentors.
CREAR's impact extends far beyond graduation. By investing in mentorship today, we are helping shape future educators, advocates, professionals, and change makers who will continue uplifting their communities for years to come.
Congratulations to all of our graduates! Your hard work, perseverance, and commitment inspire the entire CREAR community.
Statement from Frankie Miranda, President and CEO of Hispanic Federation: Today, we remember the 49 lives taken at Pulse nightclub in Orlando on June 12, 2016.
We honor their memories, celebrate the vibrant lives they lived, and stand with the families, friends, survivors, and communities forever changed by a senseless act of gun violence.
The Pulse tragedy was a devastating attack on a safe place for the LGBTQ community – a space where people gathered to find joy, connection, and belonging. It also struck at the heart of the Latine community as many of those we lost had roots in Puerto Rico and other parts of Latin America. Their absence continues to be felt across families throughout Orlando and beyond.
Honoring their legacy demands action. As we reflect on that night, we recognize that among the many important challenges facing our country, there is a dire need for strong gun reform. We must do more to develop safe spaces and to enact policies that will prevent the spread of gun violence that has continued across the country. True remembrance means continuing to work toward a future where communities can gather, celebrate, and live without fear of gun violence.
As we remember the Orlando 49, we reaffirm the importance of love, dignity, inclusion, and the right for every person to live openly and safely. We honor the intersection of LGBTQ+ and Latine identities that made Pulse a home for so many.
We say their names loudly. We remember their stories. We carry their light forward. Forty-nine lives. Forty-nine stories. Forever remembered.
Congress passed legislation providing over $70 billion to fund federal immigration enforcement agencies for the next three years, using a legislative tool that only requires votes from the Congressional majority, undercutting the public's demands for oversight and accountability.
Frankie Miranda, President & CEO of Hispanic Federation, responded to the legislative package by pointing out that, "This legislation will accelerate the devastation to American communities, allowing unfettered federal enforcement operations to continue. Americans have been vocal about the negative impact of this federal overreach – hollowing out our businesses, traumatizing children, and tearing families apart."
The passing of this legislation is one of the reasons we have hosted People's Hearings over the past few months. The powerful testimony shared in these hearings by brave community leaders will serve as the foundation for the public record that we can build on to demand accountability and oversight.
Frankie added, "Hispanic Federation will not give up on families in need, nor will we give up on the fight for oversight and accountability of federal enforcement agencies. We urge all lawmakers to take action to impose urgent guardrails on the rogue agencies devastating American communities."
Congress is on the verge of giving ICE and CBP an extra $70 billion – with no guardrails or checks and balances. Our communities can’t afford that price tag or the damage of three more years of hostile, dragnet operations for years to come. Join us in taking action and telling Congress to Vote NO on the blank check for aggressive federal crackdowns!
Last week, Frankie Miranda, President and CEO of Hispanic Federation, spoke at the Encuentro Nacional press conference, alongside our partners and elected officials, about the perils of this blank check funding. Working with the more than 150 partners who joined us in D.C. we visited over 100 Congressional offices to make sure elected officials knew that our communities opposed Reconciliation 2.0 and you can join us by taking action here https://t.co/POQaIKmwMy
Yesterday’s People's Hearing on Immigration Enforcement in Los Angeles made one thing clear: aggressive federal crackdowns are devastating our communities. Throughout the program, we heard powerful testimony on how the federal crackdown instills fear in families and stifles local businesses.
We kicked off the day standing with car wash workers, highlighting the 373+ workers swept up and detained as a result of the federal actions, one of the many communities who were targeted and are still recovering. What’s next?
In the days ahead: We’ll share video recordings of the testimonies.
In the weeks ahead: We’ll release a report outlining lessons learned from the testimony that was presented both here in Los Angeles as well as in Chicago so that elected officials can understand the importance of prioritizing policies that protect communities from aggressive federal crackdowns.
United States Commission on Civil Rights (USCCR) @RochelleMGarza, former USCCR Chair Marty Castro, and Miguel Santana, President of the @calfund moderated the forum.
The forum, facilitated by Hispanic Federation, convened civil rights and community organizations from @ImmDef, @ACLU_SoCal, @ufwfoundation, @carwasherxs, @CHIRLA, and many more local partners. The forum was supported by @latinovictoryus the @TXCivilRights, and the Miranda Family.
June 2025 marked the beginning of a massive federal crackdown in Los Angeles that caused significant damage to families and businesses alike. The harms people have experienced and continue to experience are not fully understood, but today we are putting their experiences on record.
The People’s Hearing on Immigration Enforcement: Los Angeles will document how federal immigration enforcement impacted families, communities, and civil rights across LA. Tune in between 1pm and 6pm PT to listen to the powerful testimony of people who experienced firsthand how the aggressive federal crackdown harmed their communities. The livestream will be available in Spanish and English.
United States Commission on Civil Rights (USCCR) @RochelleMGarza, former USCCR Chair Marty Castro, and Miguel Santana, President of the @calfund will moderate panel discussions and engage directly with testifiers to document the impact federal immigration enforcement has had on Los Angeles communities.
The forum, facilitated by Hispanic Federation, convenes civil rights and community organizations from @ImmDef, @ACLU_SoCal, @ufwfoundation, @carwasherxs, @CHIRLA, and many more local partners. The forum is being supported by @latinovictoryus the @TXCivilRights, and the Miranda Family.
You can provide your public comment on the new proposed rule at https://t.co/5A37Z1H3H5 and searching for docket OMB-2026-0034. The deadline to submit is July 13, 2026. Here is the link to the docket: https://t.co/gCeqlf3nIN
A proposed rule change from the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) would have a devastating impact on nonprofits across the country.
The Chronicle of Philanthropy reports that "the proposal would place a political appointee as a gatekeeper at each federal agency to make certain taxpayer funds don’t veer from White House priorities. In addition, the pending regulations would make it easier for agencies to terminate grants if they are no longer deemed 'in the national interest.'"
Frankie Miranda, President and CEO of Hispanic Federation, spoke with @Philanthropy about how this proposed rule would harm our partners and the communities that we serve. We raised these concerns in our meetings with elected officials this past week, and we will continue to work with Congressional leaders to make sure that Congressionally approved programs can continue to serve the public good without being politicized.

To close-out #HFEncuentroNacional we hosted a reception with special guests @repdeliaramirez, @MariaTeresa of @votolatino, and @Hesanche of @MiFamiliaVota who provided inspiring remarks to remind us about the kind of energy we will continue to grow as we return to our respective states.
Encuentro Nacional reinforced an important truth: Meaningful policy change doesn’t only happen in a government building; it happens when communities organize, advocate, and continue showing up long after the meetings end.
Throughout the week, #HFEncuentroNacional mobilized community leaders on the issues that matter.
Together, nonprofit leaders from across the country visited 100+ Congressional offices, strengthened advocacy strategies, and explored ways to build long-term sustainability through capacity building and fundraising.
Thank you to @RepJohnLarson, @RepGraceMeng, @RepDarrenSoto, and to all of the members of Congress who met with us to listen to our community's concerns.
