Today I had a wonderful chat with @ChristinaWelsch about the armies of the East India Company, its expansion in the 18th/19th centuries, and the military culture of its officer class. We also spoke about her book The Company's Sword, her current project on the 2nd Mysore War.
Winds of Change Season 1 is (nearly) here! From the East India Company to the "Mutiny" of 1857, through world wars, to Independence and Partition, Winds of Change will cover the whole history of the Indian freedom struggle. Full episodes 18th November.

I took a break to make a cup of tea while editing scripts for the new show, and I come back to this.
Either the ghost of Edmund Burke is haunting my keyboard, or one of the cats put their paws to podcasting #history
I'm very happy to reveal a preview of Winds of Change, my upcoming history podcast on the British Empire!
Patrons get 20 minutes, but everyone can listen to the first 5!

I got a sneak peak at this at the talk in Edinburgh a few weeks ago. One of many moments there was a chorus of intrigued "Ooooooh"s - and I was one of them!
Any must read books about the history of witchcraft or witch trials? One of my favourite podcasts of all time was the @HistofWitch by @SamuelHume10 🐈🧙♀️
This is a project I've been planning for nearly four years, and one I've been working on for several months. I can't wait for people to listen!
The first episode will release in November - follow this account (and on other socials) to stay up to date!
Telling the story of the end of the British Empire, season by season, Winds of Change will craft an engaging narrative, supported by interviews with world-leading historians.
This first season will be on British India: how the empire ruled, and how that rule was torn down.
Bonus episode: uncosted manifestos, a culture war, and a Reform Party. No, we're not talking the 2024 UK General Election - we're talking about the 1919 New Zealand General Election, of course!

New episode! This Windrush Day, here's an interview with Dr Juanita Cox about her project 'The Windrush Scandal in a Transnational and Commonwealth Context'.
Very distant from the 17th century, but still an important story that I was glad to speak about.

New episode! With the end of the First Anglo-Dutch War, Lord Protector Oliver Cromwell brings peace to his new Commonwealth.
Mostly.
