This isn't the first time something like this has been written in Solidity. @HitchensRob wrote a red-black tree, which was in turn based on an implementation by @BokkyPooBah .

@VitalikButerin Instead of KYC being about who you are, it can be about whether you have a key for that door. A merkle membership proof satisfying the policy requirements of an activity, acting as a key in zero knowledge. You could call it something like a 'Keyring protocol'.
