NEW: Police find starved, bug bitten, 3-year-old girl who they initially thought was dead, huddled in the corner of a cockroach-infested home in Ohio.

Parents like this should face the death penalty.

The girl, who weighed just 16 pounds, was found unresponsive on a soiled mattress.

The room she was found in was covered with urine, feces, bugs and mold.

Thankfully for the police officers, the girl's life was saved and she was rushed to the hospital. She is making a slow recovery and will require much more medical attention.

"She's got a long road to recovery, but she is continuing to gain some weight. But again, she's probably going to be hospitalized for quite some time," Sergeant Nathan Penrod said.

The mother, 25-year-old Rabyah Nadhirah Muballigh from Fairborn, Ohio, has been charged with felony assault and endangering a child.

She is being held on a $500,000 bond.

Amira Hunter, 23, was caught on video attacking a cellist in the NYC subway. She was just released by Judge Marva Brown despite the DA asking for bail.

Hunter has a history of violence and theft, with seven prior arrests, and for skipping court.

The judge also refused to grant a restraining order against Hunter after the defense claimed she did not know the victim.
