The 2025 HITS calendar is here with pictures of flowers, landscapes & special places at HITS. The theme centers around the vibrant colors of our garden, bringing a fresh, inspiring look to the year ahead! Let the calendar remind you of the colors surrounding us all year long.
We’ve reached the last calendar page for this year, and it's becoming more and more common to see our beloved HITS duck frozen up in the pond again. We're getting ready for the last events and duties this year before hanging up the new calendar. Stay warm!
„Physik in Hollywood" - Funktionieren eigentlich Lichtschwerter und wie schafft es Iron Man eigentlich, seinen Teilchen Beschleuniger so schnell zu bauen? Mehr dazu morgen Abend im Vortrag von Dr. Sascha Vogel im Carl Bosch Museum Heidelberg.

🥳 Design proteins from scratch, with a good helix/sheet balance, quickly and robustly with fancy geometric algebra 🤓 that catches how proteins look like! Stellar team work by Leif, Simon, Seva @_ncyxx and Nico, wonderful @HITStudies Lab project with @JanStuehmer.
Jetzt auf YouTube: HITS Journalist in Residence 2024 Felicitas Mokler spricht über „Journalismus und Künstliche Intelligenz“. Der Vortrag fand am 17. Oktober 2024 in Zusammenarbeit mit der Mathematik-Informatik-Station (MAINS) in Heidelberg statt.

November is here and so is the cold weather in Heidelberg. Small creatures are hiding under a blanket of autumn leaves, as might be this Flower Scarab. Though it’s rather uncommon to spot one this late in the year, with its shiny carapace it's a real jewel in the HITS garden.
Spooky spiders are up to mischief at HITS. Did you know that it’s considered good luck to see a spider on Halloween? Well, maybe you want to go outside and look for one, as there's nothing like a nice breath of fresh scare! Have a spooktacular night. Happy Halloween from HITS!
Today, we're at #Wissenswerte, THE forum for science journalism in the German-speaking world. If you're around, don’t miss our Science Insight at 4pm on Machine Learning & proteins by HITS researcher Leif Seute. Venue: @UniHeidelberg or stop by our booth on the top floor.
Yesterday, we hosted a group of enthusiastic young women at HITS from the Zukunfts-Orientierungs-Akademie (ZOrA) Heidelberg. The girls listened to scientific talks by our HITSters and had the chance to chat with them afterwards in a relaxed environment. What a great initiative!👍
Interested to know how Machine Learning and Astronomy go hand in hand? Watch yesterday’s HITS colloquium talk by Klaus Tschira Guest Professor @CabreraVives and tell us in the comments how well you did in the Galaxy Classification Crowdsourcing Experiment: https://t.co/HvsR3MSp2z
We thank Klaus Tschira Guest Professor @CabreraVives for a brilliant talk at today's colloquium. He spoke about what ML-based systems need to consider regarding real data and interactively explained how galaxies are classified. Stay tuned for the recording on our YouTube channel!
