⚡ Dhurandhar is at 170 cr because Akshaye Khanna’s Baloch rebel looked straight into the camera and said:
“We were free. They came with tanks in 1948 and swallowed us.”
The theatre went silent. Because every Baloch in the world knows that line isn’t fiction.
Let me tell you the story the way elders in Kalat still tell it around the fire.
Once upon a time, in the desert between Iran, Afghanistan and British India, there lived a proud kingdom called the Khanate of Kalat. It was born in 1666, ruled by a Khan who answered to no one.
When the British arrived, they didn’t conquer it like the rest of India. They signed a treaty in 1876 and wrote in black and white: “Kalat is an independent sovereign state.”
Fast-forward to 1947.
The British are leaving. The Khan hires a lawyer named Muhammad Ali Jinnah to protect his independence. Jinnah wins the case. On 11 August 1947, Pakistan itself signs a document recognising Kalat as a free country.
The Khan wakes up on 15 August 1947 — the same day India and Pakistan are born — and declares independence. Bells ring. Flags go up. Even Pakistan sends official congratulations.
Seven months of freedom. Seven months of hope.
Then comes 27 March 1948.
Pakistani tanks roll toward the pink palace in Kalat. Radio Pakistan announces: “The Khan has willingly acceded.”
Inside the palace, the old Khan is sitting with a gun to his head and a pen in his hand. He signs.
His secretary bursts into tears and says, “Your Highness, this is not accession — this is occupation.”
The Khan replies, “Tell my people I had no choice.”
That single day became the wound that never healed.
Every Baloch child grows up hearing this bedtime story — except it has no happy ending.
And that, my friends, is the true story behind Akshaye Khanna’s rage on screen.
@SunflameIndia it’s been almost a week now, no one has showed up. nor I am receiving any calls from your technician. An when I call at the call centre they try to pursue that it will be done today. No response even from Gujarat Service Head Mr. Bharghav. Pathetic a service!
