Dear: @mmkubayi@SAPoliceService@NPA_Prosecutes . For the past three years the family of Zanele Precious Nkosi the victim has been seeking justice for her and till this day @SAPoliceService@mmkubayi no arrest has been made. @mmkubayi South African lives also matter.
Zanele Precious Nkosi was 41. Attorney. Chairperson of the North West Black Lawyers Association. Director at a Rustenburg firm. Specialised in civil and municipal litigation. Also did criminal work. Served on Law Society of South Africa structures. In her spare time she helped get sanitary pads to schoolgirls around Rustenburg so they didn’t miss class.
On 29 March 2023, late afternoon, she left her office at 167 Klopper Street and walked to her black Mercedes-Benz. Two unknown men approached. They shot her multiple times in the head and upper body. She died at the scene.
Family said it looked like a hit. She had no fixed knock-off time. Relatives believed she was being watched. They waited until she was reversing, then they moved. She lived with her 72-year-old mother and her eight-year-old daughter. The family was already mourning another sister who had died on New Year’s Day.
Police confirmed two unknown suspects. No arrests that day. No arrests the week after. No arrests in 2024. In May 2025 they offered R150 000 for information that leads to arrest and conviction. Motive still listed as unknown.
September 2026. More than three years later. Still no suspects in custody. Still no public explanation of what the investigation actually produced. CCTV, phone records, ballistic work, possible witnesses on a busy street in Rustenburg — none of that has been converted into a charge sheet the public can see.
A practising lawyer was executed in daylight outside her own office. That is not a random township robbery that went wrong. That is a professional taken out in the middle of town. And the case has been allowed to go cold while a reward poster sits there.
If you know something: Rustenburg SAPS 014 590 4115 / 014 590 4116, Lt-Col Patrick Murunwa 082 772 5991, or Crime Stop 08600 10111.
A murdered attorney should not become just another unsolved docket. #JusticeforZanele
