@fiat_money Funny thing though is that you're very charts show that increase in M2 cleanly and clearly comes shortly before inflation. Inflation is a function of the supply of money and the supply of goods. Increasing/decreasing one makes the other relatively more/less valuable.
@fiat_money Tell me then, if inflation isn't the result of the monetary supply increasing, why don't the prices of goods naturally fall over time? Supply shocks are not the norm ofc. If there are more goods and every dollar is worth the same, then goods should be worth less over time, right?
@fiat_money Brother, I am not telling ANYONE what to do with their money. Do you not realize that inflation is taxation because it increases the govt's share of the money at the expense of everyone else's share? Inflation is just indirect taxation. You are saying the govt should redistribute
@fiat_money Wow, you are genuinely regarded huh? DEFICITS do not directly cause inflation. PRINTING MONEY causes inflation. Continuous deficit spending inevitably results in debt payments too high to be paid with new debt, hence printing. Inflation LAGS deficits (1970s, 2008, 2021)
@fiat_money Excuse me? You're the one advocating for the government centrally planning the economy via monetary policy and handing out money left and right. Free money removes incentive to create profit, and profit is surplus, it is the creation of goods.
@fiat_money No amount of "positive externalities" outweigh the economic cost of mal investment and short-sighted behavior caused by inflationary economics.
@fiat_money No, because you don't stop to even consider the question of whether or not the employment is towards a useful end. That is the flaw. Again, if the government employed everyone in the military, would that be beneficial? No. It'd be wasting resources. Same for mal investment
@fiat_money Nice ad hominem there. I know why people think govt should exist, I just disagree. Ultimately govt is nothing more than a compulsory monopolistic provider of services (useful or not). And, imo, compulsory monopolies are generally not good for society or the economy.
@TLRationalist@jooztrolling I wouldn't say "capitalism is morality", capitalism is moral though. Capitalism is an ethical legal system. It overlaps with morality, but morality can also mean things like helping a stranger in danger, or not cheating on one's spouse, even if they shouldn't be legally enforced
@fiat_money@LPNational Ah yes, let's violate everyone's property rights, force them to use our money, print the money into oblivion, and then tell them it's for their good, because "math is math". Should we kill 1 person for their organs to save 10 others? Math is math after all.
@fiat_money@LPNational My guy, you're the one who doesn't know how to read graphs. Graphs require context. Context comes from logic. I can make up a graph showing a correlation between global temperature increasing and gdp increasing, would that then mean that if we increase temp, gdp go up?
@fiat_money@LPNational No, if someone who wants to work, is unable to work for an extended period of time, then it means either A) their standards of employment (salary requirement, job, days off, etc.) are too high, or B) their job is not needed by the market. In which case hiring them destroys value.
@fiat_money@LPNational Ah yes, good logic-ing there my friend. I hadn't considered that. Now that you've shown me such tremendous logical reasoning and have completely torn down my own, I have no choice but to abandon my old ways and agree with you.
@fiat_money@LPNational One simple thing, why should unemployment be the metric? Do you have any logic or reasoning for it? In fact, do you have any logic or reasoning to show why I shouldn't enslave everyone around me? It would make me much better off, no? Or is it just "the majority" that matters?
@fiat_money@LPNational Right, my bad. I should take on data point in a vacuum and then force other's to go along with the policies that I make up based on it.
@nonamecbfp@Feroce1@GatewayProjectC@SallyMayweather Any need or service can very well be provided by two individuals making an agreement, or on a scaled up basis, individuals making agreements with private corporations.
