Recovering people pleaser. Lover of psalms, coffee, mountains. Host of #taketheseashes, a podcast about finding healing from the broken parts of our stories.
I read this line in a book tonight and I can’t stop thinking about it:
“Grief dares us to love once more.”
-Terry Tempest Williams (quoted in The Wild Edge of Sorrow by Francis Weller)
At an auto repair shop and Regina Spektor's "Better" is playing and I'm having a total throwback to my college days when I was obsessed with all of her music.
@TheKateBoyd Lots of thoughts on this, more in relation to boundary violations (what I'm walking through right now, related to addiction/dishonesty). I'm reinforcing boundaries--a consequence of a loved one's actions. They might feel like it's punishment, but the intent is love and safety.
Joy lately: Poppies dropped off by a friend. My toddler growing in his speech skills. Quiet confirmations of decisions, big and small. A new race on the horizon, giving structure to my next 6 weeks. The opportunity to sit across from someone and truly hear her.
How about you?
I started writing haikus over winter break and I am loving the practice of trying to fit a concept or moment in time into 17 syllables. <3 A favorite so far:
Courage calls my name,
I answer with a whisper-
"Yes, let's keep going."
@DoctorCamden It was exactly what I needed at the time when I joined (2018-2021) BUT I think it depends on what your needs are right now. Ie: do you need accountability? Publishing guidance? Growth in your craft? I had to pause last year for $ reasons too.. thinking through similar questions!
a blessing when you realize everyone is struggling
blessed are you who have realized that life is hard. and it’s hard for everyone. your awareness came at a cost.
@kinzer_sarah This thread brought me pure JOY. Also, my Grandmom used to buy me Peeps every Easter (I stopped liking them when I was 13), but I didn’t have the heart to tell her because I loved her thoughtfulness. About to buy me some coffee Peeps tmrw 😂 Cheers Sarah and Grandmom!
A gentle reminder for this holiday season: We all carry our complexities.
Behind smiles are often shadows, ever present but often unseen. We would do well to make space and extend grace for all that is unknown.
God helped me spit out the poison of resentment so I could drink the fullness of life He had for me on the other side of forgiveness. -@HLobeJohnson
So honored to share this story of forgiveness over at @incourage today. https://t.co/b7HSPRFyc7
