Singer Musiholiq parts ways with Inkabi Records amid claims of neglect and lack of support

The marriage between newly signed Inkabi Records artist Musiholiq and the record label has ended.

Inkabi Records is owned by rapper Big Zulu and houses award-winning artists such as Big Zulu himself, Lwah Ndlunkulu, Stallion, Siya Ntuli, Star Healer, Fanatic, and Mduduzi Mncube.

Inkabi Records announced Musiholiq as part of the family late last year, but sources claim the company has not been securing him gigs and sidelined him during their school tours.

MDN News can confirm that the relationship between Musiholiq and the label has gone south.

"You cannot announce someone as your artist and then do nothing for them. He doesn't know whether he is coming or going. They have stopped taking his calls and are continuing with their business without involving him in anything. All the artists at Inkabi Records are not taking his calls, and he has decided to focus more on his company and his own artists," said the first source.

Another source revealed that Inkabi Records management last spoke to Musiholiq whose real name is Ncazelo Mtolo from Umlazi in Durban, KwaZulu-Natal in December.

"They stopped communicating with him. The guy is stressed, but at least his company, First Class Entertainment, is doing very well. He signed Naledi Aphiwe and Okwanda, and they are doing great. They were jealous of him and opted to sign him to destroy his talent. They are doing the same thing to Mduduzi Mncube after he discovered Fanatic. They decided to sign him so that he cannot be bigger than Stallion production-wise. They fear competition," the source said.

A third source added:

"The working relationship was not working between the two parties, and he has moved back to his stable, First Class Entertainment. He must focus on his artists and continue releasing music under his company. They have stopped posting anything related to his career."

When contacted, Musiholiq did not confirm or deny the allegations.

"I don't know what's happening, my brother. You should contact them at Inkabi Records. They will explain better; they are the best people to speak to. I'm in the dark, and things are not happening. So I have my own company and artists, and I think I have to focus on growing," he said.

Inkabi Records Manager Will Dlamini failed to respond to queries sent to him.

Big Zulu was also sent questions but did not respond.

Sit down and Let me school you with a little fairy tale.

Once upon a time there was a rapper from South Africa called Reason. He later found out that there were other “Reasons” in the music world. 2 of them were bands and others were individual artists. This didn’t matter to him at the time because he was the most famous.

This changed when music migrated from CD’s to streaming platforms. Because now music was beings segmented by Names and Not Genres like they did in the stores.

Furthermore, another Reason in America shot up in the same genre, and was signed to a bigger label. This presented issues in the back end because artists who featured me or the other Reason started linking profiles to the wrong songs by mistake.

What created more problems there, was some of my catalogue being taken down because Motifs Licensing agreement ended with Sony without an alternative distributor. But For like… 3 years my music wasn’t available.

Reason from SA then decided to re-upload the missing catalogue under a the name ReasonHD so that anybody looking for the Reason in SA could tell
the difference from the one in the States.

This worked for everything except 3 albums (The Reasoning, Audio 3D & Azania) and all features linked to my old name because those contracts didn’t allow me to take the material down or claim it because it’s co-owned with others.

This is also why I changed my name completely. “Reason” was becoming problematic to manage and administrator.

With that said. All profiles will eventually merge once the contacts allow.
