"The joy and solidarity of the picket was magnetic, and whilst the buses beeped their support, passersby cheered, clapped, waved and danced along. People who love the library showed support for members, with readers refusing to cross the picket line, joining the picket, and shutting down events." - Hannah David.

Today is #DisabilityPayGap day, the day when Disabled workers stop getting paid for the rest of the year.
In 2025 Disabled workers earn £78.40 less a week then non-disabled workers. Disabled workers earn £4,081 less a year than everyone else.
The gap is more than the average house spends on food a week - £64.30.

Day 1 of the British Library strike over pay and the strikers are out on the picket line with some excellent home made placards.
They'll be on the picket line every day for the next 2 weeks from 8-12 - go along and show your support for fair pay for culture workers.
Joined the @pcs_union picket line at the British Library this morning to support the union members on strike. They have been offered another below inflation pay deal that effectively means a pay cut whilst some senior managers award themselves £10,000 to £15,000 bonuses.
The results are in: 97.36% of FY1s in England voted YES for strike action.
This puts the specialty training crisis firmly on the negotiating table, alongside #PayRestoration.
Thank you to everyone who voted in the ballot. #EndTrainingCrisis
Cutting disability support is unpopular and will hit Labour areas hardest.
There is an alternative to austerity:
▪️Withdraw the planned cuts.
▪️Work with disabled people to create a fairer system.
▪️Tax the wealthiest to pay for it.
The Spring Statement has confirmed our worst fears about the proposed disability benefits cuts.
Cuts won't bring growth, they won't create jobs - they will only create poverty.
