This week we have been exploring Chinese New Year. The children have been exploring mark making as we create Chinese symbols representing our alphabet. We created Chinese drums and listened to celebratory Chinese music whilst exploring the different sounds we could make.
It’s World Nursery Rhyme Week!
We have been practising counting rhymes today.
Research says that children who know and can recite lots or nursery rhymes go on to do well with their reading and writing.
Why not practise some rhymes at home.
Year 2 are having a fantastic time in our hook lesson for writing. We are learning about the book ‘Mirror’ by Jeanie Baker. The book is about Morocco so we have had a Moroccan afternoon, learning about the culture.
This half term we are learning about festivals and celebrations. CBeebies has got some great videos that explain different festivals and customs in a child friendly way.
