Today we once again took part in Remembrance events in Dundee, this joined by other naval personnel from @HMSDuncan and the @RMBandService.
The occasion is always a poignant one and it is a privilege to represent the Royal Naval Reserve each year.
🏞️ My heart’s in the Highlands, my heart is not here;
My heart’s in the Highlands, a-chasing the deer;
A-chasing the wild-deer and following the roe,
My heart’s in the Highlands, wherever I go
 A happy Burns Night to Scots and all wherever you may be around the globe.
⛵️Think yourself the next hornblower? As much of a fan of Nelson as Jack Aubrey? Why not put your knowledge to the test like our midshipmen.
🛳 To kick things off we'll ease you in with some buoyage...
🫵Want to do more with your time in the 2025? Keep your eyes peeled for our upcoming recruitment events, including at Tay Division in Dundee in March! More to come!
⚓Last Saturday saw our first training weekend of the year and saw us focus on seamanship skills.
🚤General Warfare Ratings spent time refreshing their seamanship skills, both ashore at @HMSDalriada and on HMS Scotia's RHIB based out of Port Edgar on the River Forth.
❄️There was chance for other members of ship's company to face the chilly conditions on the forth as part of familiarisation abroad the RHIB, prior to future RYA PBL 2 training
🌅As the sun sets on 2024, Happy Hogmanay from all at HMS Scotia!
⚓It's been a busy year for all of us at Scotia, and we now look forward to a 2025 which will no doubt be as busy, as we continue to help training and support reservists to support the wider @RNReserve
🎶 Members of the Ship's Company were in best voice (and mostly in tune) last night!
🎅 We were delighted to attend the carol service in aid of the tri-service charities at Edinburgh's @CanongateKirk.
Scotland’s importance continued through the historic role of Scapa Flow and Rosyth, which hosted the Grand Fleet, and endures today with the vital contributions of HMNB Clyde.
HMS SCOTIA is proud to be part of this heritage.
⚓ Scots and Scotland have long been at the heart of the Royal Navy, from the exploits of Admiral Cochrane, nicknamed le Loup des Mers (The Sea Wolf) by Napoleon, to Admiral Duncan's triumph at Camperdown, now regarded as one of the most significant naval battles in history.
👮♂️Lt Cdr Nicolson is currently an Ambassador for RNRMC having previously spent 9 years as a trustee, alongside a current trustee role of @VHScotland.

Leading Wrens Ashburner and Batchelor both served in the Women's Royal Naval Service as radar plotters, and were killed in the same flight as CPO Andrews.
...and they are buried in the naval cemetery there. It was a day of great sadness and many tears. The parents of the two girls brought a wreath for the pilot because they knew his parents couldn’t be there — a memory that will stay with me for ever...
