It’s because when you buy in a planned development of let’s say 500 homes, you own 1/500th of the common areas with your neighbors. A nonprofit corporation is formed to run it in the business sense. That’s an HOA in a nutshell… and yes, they can range from low key to nightmarish… the trick is knowing how to recognize the signs of nightmarish.

Remote work changed my life more than my salary ever did. The money obviously matters, but the real luxury is no commute, quiet mornings, midday walks, dinner plans after work, and actually having enough energy left to enjoy a life outside of my job.
