Some were just 13 years old. These were children in the care of Birmingham City Council. Girls who should have been protected by the very authorities responsible for their safety.

In 1991, Dr Jill Jesson exposed what was happening to them. She identified links to Asian private-hire drivers and subsequently revealed that she had been ordered to remove the ethnicity of the men from her findings.

Copies of her report were ordered destroyed. Birmingham councillors later voted against an inquiry. Years later, the council investigated itself and declared there had been no cover-up.

Jess Phillips, MP for Birmingham Yardley, became the Minister for Safeguarding and Violence Against Women and Girls. When demands for a government-led grooming gangs inquiry were made, she rejected Oldham's request and supported powerless locally led investigations instead. Are we to believe she did not know what was happening in her own backyard?

And then there is Shabana Mahmood.

Mahmood has represented Birmingham Ladywood since 2010. Her own website proudly documents years of campaigning for Palestine. But where is the equivalent record of her campaigning for the girls sexually exploited in her own city? Where was her campaign to uncover what happened to the Jill Jesson Report?

Mahmood is now the Home Secretary, responsible for the national statutory grooming gangs inquiry.

The legal age to marry in England & Wales is 18yrs.

The legal age in Scotland & Ireland is 16yrs with parental consent.

So why are these laws not implemented for everyone.

Mr Burnham says his closer to EU policy could add £10 bn to GDP in 2040. Most unlikely given all the extra costs and taxes it will impose. That anyway is just 0.3% extra growth in 13 years time! When will he do something to boost growth now like lifting the oil, gas and car bans?

Had an extremely interesting conversation yesterday evening in a local pub with a fine serving Met policeman, with at least 10 years service.

He said that the culture in the Met over his time had changed beyond all recognition (for the worse) and that 90% of his colleagues hated @sadiqkhan!

On the subject of the demonstrations over the past few years, he said that by a very large degree, the far left/antifa and pro Palestinian marches were the most demanding and lawless.

He admitted that the so-called far right marches caused very little problems.

No doubt the usual suspects will say that this is a conservation that never took place!

There is something seriously wrong with the UK justice system.

Hossein Mohmoudi attempted to rape a 43 year old woman in an alley as she made her way home after a Christmas party.

She was saved by someone passing by. She said she thought he might have killed her that night.

Mohmoudi claims he could not have raped her because he has a micro penis. Two doctors were sent to verify this.

Prior to the rape he was found to have been on a fetish website. He claimed this was to help him improve his English. Yes, really.

But here is the even more terrible part…

Mohmoudi already has five criminal convictions for assault and criminal damage in Germany.

After he arrived in Britain, he was in prison for 10 months for piloting the small boat across the English Channel, before being released to the asylum hostel. Why was that only 10 months? Why wasn’t he then deported?

He claims that he fled Iran because he converted to Christianity but there is no evidence of this conversion.

He had also previously been in trouble in the UK for harassing and stalking women.

He has now been sentenced to 11 years in prison and has to serve 2/3 of that sentence in prison. It is possible he will be deported afterwards but after the Christianity claim, it looks unlikely.

So British women will have to deal with him forever.

People need to understand clearly what is happening here.

Andy Burnham has never been a fan of Britain’s democratic decision to leave the European Union in 2016. The referendum was one of the biggest democratic processes in modern Britain, with strong views on both sides.

The Prime Minister now claims officials told him that Russia interfered in the referendum.

Burnham used his first speech at the UN to announce the creation of the National Centre for Information Defence. He said it would tackle Russian misinformation that sows division, interferes in our democracy, spreads false narratives about Britain and pushes people towards the “far right”.

But today, a Foreign Office minister slapped down that claim, saying Russia was not successful in influencing the Brexit referendum.

It is clear that this new centre will almost certainly be used to clamp down on those who do not subscribe to Burnham’s vision of Britain or the progressive orthodoxies he promotes.

It looks as if Andy Burnham is now spreading misinformation about misinformation — the very thing he claims threatens democracy.

Andy Burnham doesn’t believe the Brexit vote was legitimate.

He said it himself today claimed there was Russian interference that taints the whole thing then No 10 scrambled to say he “accepts” the result after all.

Absolute bollocks.

We had a referendum. The biggest democratic vote in British history.

17.4 million people voted to leave the EU. We weren’t thick, we weren’t conned, and we didn’t need some politician in London telling us we didn’t know what we were doing.

We voted Leave. That was the decision. End of.

Stop treating the British people with contempt, Burnham. You don’t get to rewrite what we voted for because it doesn’t suit you. We knew exactly what we were voting for. Brexit. Done. Respect it.
