If you grew up in a home where you didn’t hear ‘I love you’, weren’t complimented for what made you unique, or feelings weren’t expressed— giving or receiving compliments feels so awkward.

That’s ok.

Practice sitting with the discomfort. Work through the feelings. When someone compliments you, don’t go into putting yourself down or brushing it off.

Say thank you. Receive it. And generously practice complimenting traits in others.
