A perfection distillation of nearly every popular myth about Social Security, complete with smug "F them kids, I'm entitled" attitude.
When we have a debt crisis driven entirely by soaring senior benefits - even as spending on young people collapses - this attitude will be why.
Exactly! The audacity of these people to refuse to participate in a compulsory program that takes a portion of their wages and, even if benefits are paid out as promised, provides a lousy return on their 'investment' (among other things)! They should suffer too!
It is disheartening to watch the up and coming generation getting fully behind throwing their elders under the bus on Social Security because they don't want to pay into it like we were forced to. That money was taken from us and it WILL be payed back one way or another.
So go to work, pay your taxes like every generation before you, and shut the hell up.
You don't understand now because you aren't old yet, but you will be someday, and there might be a generation of even nastier people than you looking to sink the same knife in your back.

You owe us nothing? That is great!
The money you (and others) paid is largely gone, so to keep the benefits going, you now have to confiscate productive workers' wages. Do they owe you their wages even though you owe them nothing?
To all you people pissing and moaning about boomers, you can go eat shit. I worked 70 hours a week for the past 44 years. I’m not giving up what I’ve worked for and paid for most of my life. I owe you nothing. Social Security is not an entitlement it’s what I’ve paid it’s what I’ve earned. You wanna piss and moan about something. Then you go after the fucking politicians that spent years stealing from social security, not the boomers

America has an affordability crisis because Jeff Bezos pays wages so low that taxpayers subsidize the healthcare & food of Amazon workers while he got $120 billion richer since Trump’s election and has paid an effective tax rate of 0.98%.
Jeff Bezos is the real welfare queen.
If the money doesn't belong to wage earners who pay payroll taxes, then why do you need to confiscate $31 per $250 (w/ employer match) of their wages to keep paying SS benefits? Also, yes --- let's get rid of all those programs you mentioned; things would improve drastically.
I’m not the one bitching about Social Security taxes, it’s economic illiterates, like you
It’s funny seeing the whiny little socialists in favor of getting rid of SS for who people who paid in their whole life.
Let’s get rid of student loans, unemployment benefits, medicare, subsidized child care, the mortgage interest deduction, medicaid, food stamps, WIC, free education while we are at it.

The older generation most certainly did not “pay into” Social Security anywhere close to the amount they are withdrawing.
This program is one giant wealth transfer from poor young Americans to rich old ones.
Because I've been cursed to argue about this forever, here's my 2024 report listing all the reasons eliminating the FICA cap would not fix Social Security's funding gap - but it would create a lot of new problems. https://t.co/89yTlQciLo
Are the people concluding this actually that ignorant, or simply dishonest? Even w/o the cap (assuming no other changes), SS would still be on track for insolvency, not to mention the immense downsides of removing the cap. https://t.co/QGfFvTmzYz
1) Those programs you mentioned should also be abolished.
2) The sum of Medicare and SS, which are for older people, is much larger than the sum of those programs.
So, its unacceptable for retirees to pass Social costs on the the younger generation but its okay for the younger generation to pass costs onto retirees for SNAP, Section 8, SSI, and Medicaid?
