It was always about culture. What is the team culture? I ignored the non buy ins and focused on the ones who did… atta boys and girls for those who were about it. Eventually, the culture would either turn them, or the culture would chase them away… it was always about the team.
The job of a strength and conditioning coach is to systematically expose the athlete to conditions that are controlled and intense enough where game days are nearly effortless. This is science in its truest form.
I’m a lifelong Broncos fan… and ironically, if I had a second team, it’s the Saints… so when Sean Payton came to us, I was in Heaven… but 70? That’s a number that reveals how little faith his players have in him and his staff.
Not good.
Sport coaches. We don’t care what you did in the weight room when you played. I’ve forgotten more than you could know. I don’t come to your practice and tell you what I think you should do on the field, so you get to return the favor and keep your weight room ideas to yourself.
Administrators and sport coaches, we strength people will have more face time with your athletes during the course of their careers than you will. It’s in your best interest to invest in us, as much as we invest in them.
Athletes, listen up… if you think I’ll cover for your lack of effort, a career of doing the minimum, or your partial buy in during recruiting/scouting times, you’ve got another thing coming.
I will tell them who you exactly are, no fluff, nothing punitive- just the truth.
Everything you need to know about an athlete can be found by watching them warm up-
•Leadership
•Buy in
•Seriousness
•Attention to detail
•Focus
•A want to improve
•Effort
It’s not what you do when you think we’re watching, it’s what you do when no one is watching.
Human beings in a mob
What's a mob to a king?
What's a king to a God?
What's a God to a non-believer
Who don't believe in anything?
Will he make it out alive?
Alright, alright
No church in the wild
Toes out, toes in, toes dead straight all impact the structures, muscles, and joints up to and probably beyond the thoracic spine. So, having a whimsical approach to where your feet are in space is like wearing swimming fins to go hiking.
