Head of Communications at @evilmartians. I promote developer tools and open source in a world where the mere mention of marketing usually sends devs running
London meets imgproxy! Our long-time friend, @HolymayTwit, dropped knowledge bombs about open source promotion at @openuk_uk’s meetup, sharing real-world imgproxy insights and golden tips!
Talking about #Marketing when the target group are #developers, I think the advice in this article from @evilmartians could be applied also on some posts that we share on social media:

Let’s stop overusing cliches like “from developers to developers”, “next-gen”, “future-proof”, “blazing-fast”, “innovative” and others. Plus, some other common content mistakes that can be easily found on developer tool websites — and how to avoid them.

Build your in-house solution or pause your “not invented here” syndrome and opt for an open source one? Some thoughts about this tough call in my new article for @OpenSourceOrg, inspired by the @imgproxy_net team.

I’ve heard many times from OSS authors that the hardest thing is getting more users—nobody wants to be one of those pushy people hyping their work for their projects.
Well, there are still some ways to promote your OSS while avoiding tactics like that!

Content generation is a pain point in the dev tools world (for us, too!) @HolymayTwit accumulated all the experience she got while working with OSS and COSS products (including imgproxy, for sure!) and shared slides from @05F5Summit with some insights on how to build a content culture.
When I delivered this talk at the @05F5Summit (@EmilyOmier and Remy Bertot, thanks!), I didn’t expect that content generation would be such a strong pain for dev tool startups.
