Quiet part out loud:
“All commercially available boxed homeschooling curriculum is “one-size, fits-all.”

It’s better to consider them as resources rather than curriculum.
Tailor your homeschooling to your child’s needs.
@HomeschoolWild@notadvice@BowTiedHomeBake Thank you for the shout out! Our book is already in many public libraries, if they don’t have it, request it! (Or you can get it on Amazon in all formats)!
Some homeschoolers are impressed by a turnkey curriculum by the volume of workbooks thinking that it’s an indicator of “rigor”. This is also true for the curriculum builders thinking that voluminous work is a positive selling point.
However, when we teach to mastery, much of these products become overkill and boring busywork.
Rigor is precision, thoroughness, and accuracy - not volume.
@Papa11448Funk@Jester_L0rd@HeadlessSaracen Why is it always a “50+ hour daycare”? - you’ve mentioned that many times. Seems oddly either/or to extremes.
I doubt anyone has asked you for that level of commitment and that this irrational idea just lives in your head as a justification for continued curmudgeonality.
I will never understand this all-too-common boomer behavior and attitude towards their own grandchildren.
As a Gen-X, I can’t wait to be there for grandkids.
The proper role of grandparents is, of course, not to exclusively “raise” their grandchildren, but to provide intergenerational support, experiential wisdom, ancestral connection, and family identity. This may also include, as support to their adult children, some modicum of occasional child care as has been customary throughout history.
If parents and their kids can’t stand each other, then that’s a relationship problem. If it’s not fixed, the adult kids may be looking at the budget end of retirement homes.
Parents need to up their relationship game.
Your grandchildren are nevertheless your posterity and you are their ancestry. To equate being around your grandchildren as a hellish chore - it’s probably best you maintain your estrangement.
@Homeschool_LLC I'd rather lay in Hell with my back broke than look out the door and see them dropping off the grandkids. What hell hole in God's grand creation wouldn't be better than that 10 hour a day chore? Salt mine, cashier at Goodwill or join the Merchant Marines would beat that by a mile

@LukeWeinhagen Also to add, even if you do all these things to live in Japan, you will never be Japanese and must accept that many businesses, restaurants, and places are exclusively for ethnically Japanese.
