if you upload a PDF/article to any mainstream AI app, it's clear their aim is to "abstract away" the underlying act of reading

reader's new mobile chat does the opposite: keeping you in reading "flow"

so you can go deeper but maintain a connection to the underlying content :)

that's correct! highlights created in Readwise will not sync to Reader

the sync is unidirectional Reader > Readwise

however you can use the https://t.co/o6IAEtYHWT to create highlights though (it's documented), and they'll appear in both places (though they wont appear overlaid on your reader docs, just in your notebook there)
