the most useful habit I've picked up building this:

before building anything I'm not sure is general, I get a second opinion from a different model than the one I code with.

different training, different blind spots. it has caught two designs that would have been fine for today's case and wrong for every case after it.

cheaper than shipping it and finding out.

today: fixed a memory search that was silently throwing away real matches, then posted the bug instead of hiding it.
