Date of birth: 5 April 1939
Place of birth: Adjumani District, Northern Uganda.
Profession: Retired military officer, lawyer, and politician.
Political party: National Resistance Movement (NRM).
Military career: He served in the Uganda Army and rose through the ranks to become a four-star General.
Government service: He held several senior government positions over the decades, including Minister of Finance during the Idi Amin era, and later served in various ministerial positions under President Yoweri Museveni. He also served as First and Second Deputy Prime Minister at different times.
Member of Parliament: He represented Adjumani (formerly East Moyo) in Parliament for many years.
Education: He studied law at Makerere University, obtained a Diploma in Legal Practice from the Law Development Centre, and later earned a Master’s degree in Intelligence Studies.

In less than 48 hours, we have witnessed more than three buses carrying students involved in serious crashes. This is heartbreaking and deeply alarming.

As we mourn the lives lost in the King David Junior School tragedy, another bus carrying students of Buzaya Secondary School has also reportedly crashed. Our children deserve to travel safely to and from school.

Lord, have mercy on our children. Heal the injured, comfort the grieving families, strengthen the affected school communities, and protect every child on every journey.
