June 19, 1865, Union Maj. Gen. Gordon Granger issued General Order No. 3 ordering the enforcement of the Emancipation Proclamation in Texas: “The people of Texas are informed that, in accordance with a proclamation from the Executive of the United States, all slaves are free.” #Juneteenth
Stephen Colbert and David Letterman paying tribute to Obama’s infamous tan suit at the Presidential Center opening is exactly the level of pettiness and historical accuracy I respect. 😂
Some controversies deserve a reunion tour.
New concerns are emerging about President Trump’s sweeping pardon of Jan. 6 defendants after a report found that nearly 100 of them have been arrested, charged or convicted of additional crimes since the attack in 2021.
It comes as continuing efforts by Trump and his allies to recast the events of that day have reignited debate over accountability and the rule of law.
@ElizLanders has more.
Happy Juneteenth, y’all!
161 years ago today, freedom finally made its way to Texas.
As we celebrate the strength, resilience, and sacrifices of those who came before us, we are also reminded that the work is not done.
It is on all of us to continue the fight. As Texas' own Opal Lee said, “None of us are free until we are all free.”
Six months in, Trump's second term and Republicans have tried to dismantle everything: our healthcare, our rights, our democracy.
And six months in, we have shown up every single day to fight back.
This movement is real. Our organizing is working. But we need you in it for what's coming next.
The midterms don't wait and neither can we. 💜
Community activists in Senatobia, Mississippi have identified Officer Hunter Foster as the officer who allegedly killed 1‑year‑old Kohen Kartier Wiley outside a Walmart.
Officials still have not publicly released the officer’s name, but the community is naming what the system will not: a baby’s life was taken during a police response to a reported shoplifting call.
Local and state reporting confirm that officers opened fire on a vehicle near the Walmart and that Kohen was killed and an adult was wounded. Those same reports confirm that the investigation is ongoing and that the officer is on leave, while key details and the body‑camera footage remain out of public view.
When institutions stay silent, it is often the community that has to identify the people involved and demand transparency, accountability, and real consequences.
That is the work activists are doing here.
Say his name: Kohen Kartier Wiley.
Say his name: Hunter Foster.

Police handcuff & detain Black 16 year old—for walking home with hands in his pockets.
"He was acting like someone who commits crimes," said officer.
"When people grab their crotch area it's fair to assume—especially in this neighborhood—they could have a gun."
Jeremiah said it was a chilly day so when he was walking on the sidewalk he put his hands in his pockets.
Officer could give no further explanation to his mother why he put her son in handcuffs—other than he "looked suspicious."
Police Chief Shannon Bagley issued a statement defending the officer's actions —but refused to provide the name officer involved.
Incident occurred in the Washington Heights neighborhood of Battle Creek, Michigan.
WE’RE NOT LOOKING LATER — WE’RE LOOKING NOW: 17-year-old Treshawn Clayborn missing from Beaumont, Texas.
Watch for him everywhere: https://t.co/DOvmjJsOm8.
The truth is out there. Drag it into the light.
🚨BREAKING: President Obama breaks his silence after Trump signed the MOU surrender with Iran.
Obama says that under the JCPOA he negotiated, "Iran had agreed not to develop nuclear weapons," and Trump pulling out of it "caused Iran to develop more nuclear capacity."
Obama questioned Trump's rationale for his war, saying we're likely worse off now:
"We’ve now fought a war, spent billions and billions of dollars, put an enormous strain on our military; a lot of people have died, and it feels like we are back where we were before we started the war, except maybe a little worse off."
This MIC DROP from Obama is guaranteed to drive Trump NUTS.
SCOTUS by tradition waits until late June of its term to release opinions in major cases like the three cases decided today. Justice Roberts could have held to Supreme Court precedent and waited until this month to release the majority opinion in Louisiana v. Callais, a major voting rights case, but elected to release it in April so state legislatures, like Tennessee’s, could dilute Black voter representation and improve the prospect that Republicans can retain control of the House in November. That’s what happened to my District in Memphis, and it affects all majority-African-American districts. This behavior, in addition to the others listed, is why I introduced Articles of Impeachment against Justice Roberts.
This is the son of a former Republican state senator and friend of Sarah Huckabee Sanders.
Sarah campaigned for his failed Senate run earlier this year.
He’s now accused of sexual misconduct involving minors.
This is Hunter Foster, the Senatobia, Mississippi police officer involved in the fatal shooting of 1-year-old Kohen Wiley.
On June 14, 2026, officers responded to a reported shoplifting incident at Walmart involving a box of diapers. Foster fired into a vehicle carrying Kohen, his mother, and another adult as they attempted to drive away, killing the toddler and critically injuring an adult. The family denies shoplifting and says they had a receipt.
The Mississippi Bureau of Investigation is leading the probe, and Foster has been placed on administrative leave. Protests have erupted in the community demanding accountability and transparency.
A heartbreaking tragedy. Rest in peace, sweet Kohen. 🕊️😪
I'm going to KEEP talking about how Florida Senator Rick Scott, the RICHEST man in all of Congress DEFRAUDED Medicare & is trying to CUT Social Security.
Will you join me?🤚
