Former Prime Minister Imran Khan’s Message from Adiala Jail - March 25, 2025

Pakistan's challenges can only be resolved through genuinely elected public representatives. Instead of repeating the mistakes of 1971 that divided the nation, work towards uniting it!

How can an illegitimate government imposed on Balochistan possibly resolve any issues? As a Pakistani and a former Prime Minister, I am deeply concerned about the ongoing situation in Balochistan marked by sharp rise in terrorism. The firing of live ammunition on peaceful protesters, state violence and unlawful arrests are equally deeply troubling. It is the fundamental duty of the state to address the grievances of the people of Balochistan. The situation in Balochistan cannot improve unless the genuine public representatives are brought into mainstream, their voices are sincerely heard, and the fate of the region is decided in accordance with the will of the people. Sheer force can never resolve this issue. It would rather deepen crisis and fuel further instability.

The puppet government imposed through fraudulent elections (Form 47), has failed on all fronts, with its foreign policy being complete disaster. We can address terrorism by engaging in dialogue with Afghanistan. We share a 2,200-kilometer border with Afghanistan, and peaceful negotiations are the only way forward. During our tenure, despite strained relations with the Afghan government at the time, we engaged in direct talks with them. The policies we implemented over three years successfully eliminated terrorism. However, after our tenure, the adoption of Biden's policy led to numerous issues, and today, the public is bearing the consequences in the form of increased terrorism.
The current government's lack of seriousness is evident from the fact that neither during the PDM regime nor under the present administration has the Foreign Minister visited Afghanistan or undertaken any serious diplomatic initiatives.

The 26th Constitutional Amendment has led to the complete deterioration of our judicial system. My pre-arrest bail hearing in the fabricated May 9th (2023) cases was scheduled after months of delay, but the Lahore High Court bench was dissolved to further delay the process. Similarly, the Toshakhana case where my trial is being conducted within the jail premises has been arbitrarily halted without explanation. Previously, the verdict in the Al-Qadir Trust case was deliberately delayed so that my case could be presented before handpicked judges in the Islamabad High Court following court packing. After extensive legal efforts, when my appeal was finally scheduled for hearing, objections were raised, further, delaying the matter until after Eid.

This clearly proves that the imposed government's primary goal is to keep me in jail at all costs, as my cases have no legal standing and will be overruled whenever they are heard on merits. This is a fixed match being played under a well-orchestrated plan.

Instead of focusing on their constitutional responsibilities, the institutions are hyper fixated on cracking down on PTI and controlling the media, prisons, and courts. Adiala Jail is also being run by a Colonel. What authority does a Colonel have to control a jail?

This week, my sisters were also denied a meeting with me. Despite multiple court orders, I am barred from meeting friends, speaking to my children on the phone, or accessing my diary and books. In six months, I had just one meeting with my political colleagues, scheduled entirely at the discretion of jail authorities. They continue to impose one restriction after another.

No matter how hard they try, I have never bowed to their fascism, and I never will!

گزشتہ روز ہماری فیملی نے اسلام آباد ہائی کورٹ میں خیبر پختونخوا کے وزراء سے ملاقات کی۔ اس ملاقات میں عمران خان کے تمام قانونی اور جائز جیل حقوق کی بحالی کے لیے اٹھائے جانے والے اقدامات پر تفصیلی تبادلۂ خیال کیا گیا۔

ملاقات کے دوران وزراء نے درج ذیل پیش رفت سے آگاہ کیا:

1۔ کوئی اضافی (سرپلس) بجٹ نہیں ہوگا، کیونکہ عمران خان نے ہمیشہ ہدای�� دی ہے کہ تمام دستیاب وسائل خیبر پختونخوا کے عوام کی ترقی، فلاح و بہبود اور خوشحالی پر خرچ کیے جائیں۔

2۔ خیبر پختونخوا حکومت وفاقی حکومت کی جانب سے طلب کردہ 175 ارب روپے کی منتقلی کے لیے کسی بھی معاہدے پر اس وقت تک دستخط نہیں کرے گی جب تک کہ درج ذیل مطالبات پورے نہیں کیے جاتے:

• خیبر پختونخوا کو ضم شدہ اضلاع (سابق فاٹا) کے لیے موجودہ مالی سال کا مکمل حصہ فراہم کیا جائے، جو تقریباً 300 ارب روپے بنتا ہے۔ یہ فنڈز ضم شدہ علاقوں کی معاشی ترقی، استحکام اور خوشحالی کے لیے ناگزیر ہیں۔

• عمران خان کے تمام قانونی اور جائز حقوق مکمل طور پر بحال ہونے تک کسی بھی معاہدے پر دستخط نہیں کیے جائیں گے، جن میں شامل ہیں:

1۔ عمران خان کو فوری طور پر شفا انٹرنیشنل ہسپتال منتقل کیا جائے تاکہ ماہر ڈاکٹروں کی نگرانی میں ان کا مکمل طبی معائنہ، تشخیص اور علاج ممکن بنایا جا سکے۔

2۔ عمران خان کی گزشتہ آٹھ ماہ سے جاری غیر قانونی تنہائی اور عملی طور پر سولیٹری کنفائنمنٹ کا فوری خاتمہ کیا جائے، جس میں:

الف) ہر ہفتے 6 اہلِ خانہ، 6 وکلاء اور 6 دوستوں (سیاسی ساتھیوں) سے ملاقات کا حق فوری طور پر بحال کیا جائے۔

ب) ان کے بیٹوں کے ساتھ ہفتہ وار ٹیلیفونک رابطے کا حق فوری طور پر بحال کیا جائے۔

ج) کتابوں، اخبارات اور دیگر مطالعے کے مواد تک ان کی رسائی فوری طور پر بحال کی جائے۔

یہ کوئی خصوصی مراعات نہیں بلکہ بنیادی قانونی اور انسانی حقوق ہیں، جن کا احترام اور فوری بحالی مزید کسی تاخیر کے بغیر یقینی بنائی جانی چاہیے

All the news circulating on social media that a former Army Chief met Imran Khan in Adiala Jail are fake.

We have checked with Barrister Gohar and he has also confirmed that this is totally fake!

It is disinformation especially spread to distract from the fact that Imran Khan is being tortured through total isolation.

A distraction from the fact that:

1) He is not allowed proper treatment for his eye in a proper hospital.

2) He has not been allowed to speak to his sons.

3) He has not been allowed books for the past 6 months.

4) He has no television

5) He has not been allowed contact with anyone from the outside world in the past 6 months, except two visits by his lawyer on the orders of the court.

There is a full bench court order that allows for at least 18 people to visit him every week. 6 family members and 6 lawyers on Tuesdays, and 6 party members on Thursdays.

All above are Imran Khan’s lawful rights, under Pakistan’s laws and the International laws.

We have received reports that Imran Khan was again taken to PIMS in the early hours of 15 June. We found out through a tweet by Barrister Gohar on the morning of 15 June.

We reject any medical report generated by PIMS regarding Imran Khan’s condition. The same institution has previously made questionable claims, including the assertion that Imran Khan had recovered 90% of his eyesight. Imran Khan himself rejected these claims when his lawyer later met him at Adiala Jail.

A fundamental question remains unanswered: Why does Imran Khan require a fifth injection?

We do not accept the government’s version of events. We demand that Imran Khan be examined and treated by independent, qualified specialists at Shifa International Hospital, Islamabad. This is an urgent and immediate priority.

A full bench court order permits six family members to meet Imran Khan every Tuesday. Yet over the past eight months, the authorities have largely violated this order. My sister, Dr. Uzma Khan, has only been allowed to meet him a few times, and her last meeting took place on 2 December, 2025.

We reject the government’s continued use of isolation and deprivation as tools of pressure against Imran Khan. Today, we expect all six family members to be allowed to meet him in accordance with the court’s order.

The denial of Imran Khan’s rights is not merely a political issue; it is a clear violation of both the jail manual and High Court orders.

According to the jail manual, Imran Khan is entitled to:

1. A weekly telephone call with his sons.
2. A weekly meeting with family members.
3. A weekly meeting with his legal counsel.
4. Access to books and reading material.
5. Access to television and newspapers.
6. Access to proper medical treatment and regular medical check-ups.
7. Notification to immediate family members before any medical procedure is carried out.

In addition, High Court full bench orders provide that:

1. Imran Khan must be allowed to speak with his sons by telephone.
2. Six family members and six lawyers may meet him every Tuesday.
3. Six friends, including party representatives, may meet him every Thursday.

We demand the immediate restoration of all of Imran Khan’s lawful rights as a prisoner, with access to independent and professional medical treatment in presence of family as the highest and most urgent priority.

PTI leadership has requested opposition leader Mehmood Khan Achakzai that, if there is a time frame on the gathering outside Adiala Jail on Tuesday, they can mobilize 10,000 people. We welcome this proposal and have accepted their request.

On Tuesday, 16 June, we will gather outside Adiala Jail from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM.

A strong gathering of 10,000 people outside Adiala should create the necessary pressure to end Imran Khan’s prolonged isolation and ensure that his eye condition is properly examined and treated at Shifa International Hospital, Islamabad, in the presence of his family and personal physician.

This is a humanitarian and legal demand. The basic rights of a former Prime Minister and political prisoner must be respected.

ہمیں اطلاعات موصول ہوئی ہیں کہ 15 جون کی علی الصبح عمران خان کو ایک بار پھر پمز اسپتال منتقل کیا گیا۔ ہمیں اس بارے میں 15 جون کی صبح بیرسٹر گوہر کی ایک ٹویٹ کے ذریعے معلوم ہوا۔

ہم عمران خان کی صحت سے متعلق پمز کی جانب سے جاری کی جانے والی کسی بھی طبی رپورٹ کو مسترد کرتے ہیں۔ یہی ادارہ ماضی میں بھی مشکوک دعوے کر چکا ہے، جن میں یہ دعویٰ بھی شامل تھا کہ عمران خان کی بینائی 90 فیصد بحال ہو چکی ہے۔ بعد ازاں جب ان کے وکیل نے اڈیالہ جیل میں ان سے ملاقات کی تو عمران خان نے خود ان دعوؤں کو مسترد کر دیا۔

ایک بنیادی سوال اب بھی جواب طلب ہے: عمران خان کو پانچویں انجیکشن کی ضرورت کیوں پیش آئی؟

ہم حکومت کے مؤقف کو قبول نہیں کرتے۔ ہمارا مطالبہ ہے کہ عمران خان کا معائنہ اور علاج اسلام آباد کے شفا انٹرنیشنل اسپتال میں آزاد اور مستند ماہر ڈاکٹروں سے کرایا جائے۔

فل بینچ عدالتی حکم کے مطابق عمران خان سے ہر منگل کو خاندان کے چھ افراد ملاقات کر سکتے ہیں۔ تاہم گزشتہ آٹھ ماہ کے دوران حکام نے مسلسل اس عدالتی حکم کی خلاف ورزی کی ہے۔ میری بہن ڈاکٹر عظمیٰ خان کو صرف چند مرتبہ ملاقات کی اجازت دی گئی، جبکہ ان کی آخری ملاقات 2 دسمبر 2025 کو ہوئی تھی۔

ہم عمران خان پر دباؤ ڈالنے کے لیے حکومت کی جانب سے تنہائی اور بنیادی حقوق سے محرومی کو بطور ہتھیار استعمال کرنے کی پالیسی کو مسترد کرتے ہیں۔ آج ہم توقع رکھتے ہیں کہ عدالتی حکم کے مطابق خاندان کے تمام چھ افراد کو عمران خان سے ملاقات کی اجازت دی جائے گی۔

عمران خان کو حقوق سے محروم کرنا محض ایک سیاسی مسئلہ نہیں بلکہ جیل مینول اور ہائی کورٹ کے احکامات کی صریح خلاف ورزی ہے۔

جیل مینول کے مطابق عمران خان درج ذیل حقوق کے حقدار ہیں:

1۔ اپنے بیٹوں سے ہفتہ وار ٹیلیفونک گفتگو۔
2۔ خاندان کے افراد سے ہفتہ وار ملاقات۔
3۔ اپنے وکلاء سے ہفتہ وار ملاقات۔
4۔ کتابوں اور مطالعے کے مواد تک رسائی۔
5۔ ٹیلی ویژن اور اخبارات تک رسائی۔
6۔ مناسب طبی علاج اور باقاعدہ طبی معائنوں تک رسائی۔
7۔ کسی بھی طبی عمل یا طریقۂ علاج سے قبل قریبی اہلِ خانہ کو اطلاع دینا۔

اس کے علاوہ ہائی کورٹ کے فل بینچ کے احکامات کے مطابق:

1۔ عمران خان کو اپنے بیٹوں سے ٹیلیفون پر بات کرنے کی اجازت دی جائے۔
2۔ خاندان کے چھ افراد اور چھ وکلاء ہر منگل کو ان سے ملاقات کر سکتے ہیں۔
3۔ چھ دوست، جن میں پارٹی نمائندگان بھی شامل ہوں، ہر جمعرات کو ان سے ملاقات کر سکتے ہیں۔

ہم مطالبہ کرتے ہیں کہ عمران خان کو بطور قیدی حاصل تمام قانونی حقوق فوری طور پر بحال کیے جائیں، اور خاندان کی موجودگی میں آزاد اور پیشہ ورانہ طبی علاج تک رسائی کو سب سے اعلیٰ اور فوری ترجیح بنایا جائے
