Mental health support should be accessible, culturally responsive, and available to everyone.
During Black, Indigenous, and People of Color Mental Health Month, we recognize the importance of reducing stigma, amplifying diverse voices, and ensuring every student and family knows that asking for help is a sign of strength—not weakness.
Whether you're supporting a friend, checking in with a student, or reaching out for yourself, you don't have to navigate mental health alone.

School is out, but hope is still in. 😎
Summer sounds like freedom and fun, but it can also bring isolation and hidden struggles. Pay attention to warning signs in yourself and others, such as withdrawing from friends, losing interest in activities, dramatic mood changes, or talking about feeling hopeless.
Noticing is the first step toward getting help.

Forgiveness isn’t always easy—but it’s powerful. It softens hearts, breaks cycles, and creates space for healing—both within ourselves and in the world around us. 🌎
Today, practice forgiveness. It might look like admitting what hurts, letting go of something heavy, or offering grace where it’s needed most. Small acts of forgiveness can go a long way.

During the school year, Lawrenceburg Hope Squad Members traveled to the Indiana State House for Public Health Day, where they learned more about the policies, systems, and leaders that shape both physical and mental health in their communities.
Experiences like these remind us that student voices matter—and that's why we're excited to launch a new Advocacy Toolkit as part of our recent product update! 💫
Designed to help students and Advisors turn passion into action, this guide provides practical ways for engaging with school leaders, community stakeholders, and government officials.

Forgiveness is one of the greatest gifts we can give–both to ourselves and others. ♥️
When we practice forgiveness, we strengthen relationships, build resilience, and create communities where everyone has the opportunity to learn, grow, and begin again.

School is out, but hope is still in. 🤝
One of the best things you can do this summer is stay connected. Check in with friends or reach out to trusted adults.
Connection isn't just nice to have—it's one of the strongest protective factors to keep ourselves and others safe.

More than 300 attendees. 40+ booths. Countless connections. 💙
This spring, Coppell High School's Hope Squad partnered with The Defensive Line to host the school's 3rd Annual Mental Health Fair, connecting students, community organizations, and school groups.
When schools create opportunities for students to build relationships, discover resources, and engage with their community, they strengthen one of the most powerful protective factors for mental health: Connection.

Every student matters.
Some student groups, including LGBTQ+ youth, face elevated risks for mental health challenges and suicide. That's why we believe creating connected, supportive school communities is so important.
Hope Squad empowers students to recognize when peers may be struggling, reach out with care, and connect them to trusted adults.
When students know they belong, they're more likely to seek help and find hope. ♥️

Advisor Spotlight: Patti Brouhard 💫
Under Patti's direction, Hope Squad launched at three Bexar County high schools through a partnership between Communities In Schools of San Antonio and the Baptist Health Foundation. Across the campuses, 58 students were nominated to serve as Hope Squad Members, leading awareness events and creating meaningful opportunities for connection.
Patti says the program’s success has been fueled by dedicated students, committed Advisors, and strong school support. “Hope Squad has created safe spaces for students, increased mental health awareness, and strengthened our school community.” 💙
We're grateful for dedicated advisors like Patti who help Squads make a positive impact on their schools and communities!

Sometimes the simplest ideas make the biggest impact. ♥️
At Howell High School in Michigan, the Hope Squad came together to host “Hug in a Mug” during testing season.
Members decorated to-go cups with encouraging messages, fun drawings, and uplifting slogans before handing out hot chocolate to students and staff throughout the day. To make the event even more fun, their Advisor dressed up in a hot cocoa mug costume! ☕
This activity created moments of connection, reminded students of trusted adults and peers they can turn to, and gave the Squad an opportunity to strengthen relationships while spreading hope throughout the school community.
Way to go, Howell High School!

In June, we want to recognize #MensMentalHealthMonth and spread the message that it’s not weak to speak about mental health. 💪🏼
Too often, boys and men think they need to hide what they’re feeling. But true strength is found in connection, vulnerability, and reaching out for support when it’s needed.
This month and every month, let’s continue creating communities where everyone feels safe to share, supported to heal, and reminded they are never alone.
