Most recent electric bill for an all-electric home energized by clean and renewable energy in Canada. Don’t let anyone tell you it can’t be done.

One of the first actions taken by Canada’s new government in March 2025 was to impose additional sanctions on Nicolás Maduro’s brutally oppressive and criminal regime — unequivocally condemning his grave breaches of international peace and security, gross and systematic human rights violations, and corruption. Canada has not recognised the illegitimate regime of Maduro since it stole the 2018 election. The Canadian government therefore welcomes the opportunity for freedom, democracy, peace, and prosperity for the Venezuelan people.
Canada has long supported a peaceful, negotiated, and Venezuelan-led transition process that respects the democratic will of the Venezuelan people. In keeping with our long-standing commitment to upholding the rule of law, sovereignty, and human rights, Canada calls on all parties to respect international law. We stand by the Venezuelan people’s sovereign right to decide and build their own future in a peaceful and democratic society.
Canada attaches great importance to resolution of crises through multilateral engagement and is in close contact with international partners about ongoing developments. We are first and foremost ready to assist Canadians through our consular officials and our embassy in Bogotá, Colombia, and will continue to support Venezuelan refugees.
Whether in civil society or in Cabinet, Steven Guilbeault’s leadership to advance sustainability has consistently shaped a more hopeful horizon for future generations.
As Prime Minister, I have been deeply grateful for his counsel and contributions to our new government, which shares his fundamental commitment to climate ambition and climate competitiveness for Canada.
While we may have differing views at times on how exactly we make essential progress, I am glad Steven will continue to offer his important perspectives as a Member of Parliament in our Liberal caucus.
Canada’s new government is committed to a building a sustainable economy through ambitious investments undertaken in a process of cooperative federalism and in full partnership with Indigenous peoples. A climate strategy based solely on regulations and prohibitions will not achieve our climate objectives not least because it will fail to generate the alignment of interests required for this historic undertaking.
Through its nation building projects, its Climate Competitiveness Strategy, and upcoming nature and electricity strategies, the government will catalyse sustainable investments that will create jobs, improve affordability, build Canada’s independence, and secure sustainable prosperity for future generations.

Yesterday, the One Canadian Economy Act received Royal Assent, marking a historic step forward in building a stronger, more inclusive Canada—one where Indigenous partnership is at the heart of every development, ensuring environmental protections and Indigenous rights are upheld.
Met with Bruce Fanjoy, Member of Parliament for Carleton, who defeated Pierre Poilievre!
I never thought I’d find myself saying this… but it was a pleasure to meet with the Member from Carleton.
BTW we are thinking of forming a #DragonSlayerCaucus
Congratulations, Bruce.

Only 6.6% of countries are full democracies. Canada is one of them.
That's something to be proud of. Something worth fighting for.
