New Espaillat ad attacks Mamdani-backed foe for tweets - including one ripping black, Arab men for 'fetishizing ugly colonizer women' https://t.co/cWZC4q5LsK
I can’t think of a decision more vindicated by history than protesting the pending genocide that everyone with the most basic knowledge of Gaza and Israel knew was coming on Oct 8 2023
The Palestinians in Gaza are shooting in the air while dozens of children are right next to them.
Do they realize the bullets are falling right afterward?
NEW: Darializa Avila Chevalier, a candidate for Congress in New York City, has defended participating in an anti-Israel, pro-Hamas rally on October 8, 2023, the day after the Hamas onslaught in Israel, an event that saw participants celebrate the high number of Israeli fatalities in the worst terror attack in the Jewish state’s history.
New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani endorsed Avila Chevalier last week, giving her campaign a major boost.
Images of Avila Chevalier at the anti-Israel rally over two-and-a-half years ago circulated after the endorsement. The demonstrators waved Palestinian flags and chanted, “Resistance is justified,” “Globalize the intifada,” and “Smash the settler Zionist state.”

@InnaVernikov and I just got off a call with the victim of this antisemitic hate crime. She was pinned to subway floor, choked, and had her hair ripped out.
Like all hate crimes, this should be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. Hate cannot be tolerated in our city.
I am a Zionist. Many people out there don’t seem to understand what a Zionist is - and what it isn’t - so here you go.
I believe in the existence of a Jewish home land, Israel, in the land of Judea, where it currently is.
As a Zionist, I do not automatically agree with or support everything the country does, nor do I automatically agree with every government, every politician, every decision.
As a Zionist, I am free to criticize policies and governments of Israel, just the same as I am to criticize the Canadian government or the American government or any other government.
I can believe that the Israelis who spit on Christians should be charged, and I do.
I can believe that the violence in Judea and Samaria needs to be stopped, and I do.
I can believe that every single Israeli, regardless of religion, who commits rape, should be tried and should face the harshest punishments, and I do.
I can believe that every single war crime committed by an Israeli should be prosecuted, and I do.
I can believe that Israel should be held to the same standards of every other nation, and I do.
The only things I don’t do, because I’m a Zionist?
Call for the destruction of the only Jewish nation in the world.
Hold them to a far higher standard than everyone else, just because they’re Jewish.
Spread false propaganda about them, just because they’re Jewish.
Because even though you pretend that’s “antizionism”, it’s just masking your true motives.
Jew hatred.
@HowardPollack You know I would have said the same about various NY politicians marching in the Israel day parade, where fascist thugs like Smotrich also participated. I don't like that they did it. But it's not disqualifying for office. I still think @TishJames is a decent NY AG.
One prominent New Yorker who has yet to condemn Smotrich: @ericadamsfornyc, who actually marched in the same parade contingent as the Israeli finance minister.
The Celebrate Israel parade, the vote by members of the Park Slope Food Coop to boycott Israeli products, military assistance for Israel and investments in Israel bonds made up the first 15 minutes of the one-hour debate #NY10 https://t.co/GGf3mAbHE5
My oh my - ya just can’t get over the fact that NYC held the largest parade in solidarity with the people of Israel in the entire world! Get over yourself - it’s about LOVE not politics
This past Sunday, thousands gathered on Fifth Avenue to celebrate the people, culture, and spirit of Israel.
It is our honor to organize the Israel Day Parade on Fifth each year and bring our community together in celebration, pride, and joy.
💙 Am Yisrael Chai.
50k plus marchers from 9 states plus Canada with 20 countries represented - Jews and Non-Jews alike! WOW what a day to be a Jewish New Yorker!! So proud of our strong connection to the people of Israel!!!
Attacking Mamdani and accusing him of an act of “hate” because he refused to attend a parade in which Bezalel Smotrich was a prominent participant is absurd.
The real act of hate is welcoming those who have openly called for starving Palestinian children.
I had a fantastic time celebrating Jewish identity and heritage at Sunday’s Israel Day Parade. It was great to march with and see so many amazing colleagues, activists & friends.
If you think “every single Jewish institution in the country” is staffed by villains you are just an antisemite.
Thanks for making your antisemitism so obvious and clear.
