Howie D, integrante de la legendaria banda Backstreet Boys, presentó “Coquí”, la primera canción de su carrera escrita e interpretada completamente en español. El artista de 52 años decidió conectar con sus raíces puertorriqueñas a través de este proyecto personal inspirado en la cultura, los recuerdos familiares y los sonidos característicos de Puerto Rico.

El tema toma su nombre del coquí, una pequeña rana nativa de la isla cuyo canto nocturno se ha convertido en un símbolo nacional. Grabado en San Juan, el videoclip también rinde homenaje a esa herencia cultural que el cantante busca transmitir a sus hijos. Sin embargo, el momento más emotivo llegó cuando su madre, Paula, de 92 años, escuchó la canción y rompió en llanto. Para Howie D, verla orgullosa fue una experiencia que quedará marcada para siempre en su vida.
