I've been training with @PolarGlobal since August 5th, 1986. This log is from my Polar profile, but I don't know when it started, since the workouts that I did in 1986 with my Polar Vantage XL wouldn't have been recorded.
The smoke was gone from the Sandia Mountains this morning, and I was able to do the run that I planned. When I hydrate with Tailwind, the runs are so much better! Visit the Tailwind Nutrition Store here https://t.co/ivrRPFk2ki
Smoke drifting north from the Seven Cabins fire in the Capitan Mountains almost obscured the Rio Grande Valley to the west and the Sandia Mountains to the east. To be on the safe side, I didn't run in it for very long this morning.
Five years and four days after my pacemaker implant, I ran the same loop again that I walked on June 3rd, 2021 (image on the left).
Five years later, I'm still running, strength training, hiking, and pursuing new goals at 75.
I'm 75 and still doing the work.
Running is easy. Hiking is fun. Walking the dog is necessary.
Strength training is the part I don't like.
But after 70, it's not optional.
Here's the 20-minute workout I'm using to stay strong and active:

After listening to Rich Roll's podcast with Michael Easter, I think that there might be a lot of rucking in my future. The podcast is here https://t.co/YJmKDu2Mih and my new blog post about rucking is here https://t.co/kln1Jri3Z7
Midday outdoor activity similar to a run, sandwiched between a super stressful morning and a too much work to do afternoon, but I was out there (and got through the tunnel safely)!
I was on a mission to find a trail that headed south and connected two trails. I did find one that has potential, so mission accomplished. I got 1,382' of elevation gain for the week.
I went down to the Rio Grande Valley to run this morning. No water in the acequia, of course, but plenty of wildlife and farm animals! #riograndevalley
I finished up the second half of the week with four runs and a definite change in the weather from t-shirt and shorts on Monday to snow and freezing temperatures!
I drove down to the Rio Grande valley to run at lunchtime on a 60 degree day (normal 47) and saw beautiful views of the Sandia Mountains and the Rio Grande River looking north and south.
I'm 75, and I've worked out 363 days this year (see an earlier post about missing one day). Why? As we age, we lose muscle mass and our metabolism slows. Today's workout was 35:00, doing 10 Minute Focus legs, cardio, and arms. Learn more by going to https://t.co/lAXT61bPiA
We all have unique needs, schedules, and goals. I now know that what best suits my training as a runner is microdose fitness. I can get the workout that I need in the time that I have. You can learn more on the blog https://t.co/zVHDxUkm1L
After 14 days, today was the first day that the Spirit said to me, "You should run." It was actually pretty good, but it will take a while to get back to where I was two weeks ago. I've been doing Dig In workouts first, and today was Phase 2 Day 2 Arms & Legs 2 with Shaun T.
