@arielin307 yes I agree! I think often times in today's society we erase or censor the dark reality from children but instead we should use these movies as lessons to teach children.

@JoshBerger67 I think environment also plays a role too. That is to say, if our environment continues to perpetuate or validate certain stereotypes, we subconsciously acknowledge this behavior as acceptable or accurate.

My take-way message from the Mickey mouse clip was that as someone who has grown up on Disney, it is shocking to realize the horrific racism and ignorance that was portrayed over our childhoods. 1/1 #Lesson11 #educ307

I do think Disney has evolved in its portrayal of sexes, ethnicities & race (to some extent).If I'm not mistaken, recently ToyStory 4 introduced a gay couple into the movie. This is a good start but more work needs to be done to have equal & accurate representation of minorities.

I recall in youth, I would dress up as Pocahontas or snow white or perhaps another idolized Disney princess because this was "normal". We as children didnt know better. Until we grew up and realized the stories & fairytales were based off horrific and violent events .2/2 #educ307

@CarleeLinder12 Nowadays, professors just ask us all to sit in the front of the class to watch if were too "distracted" aka online shopping or something else. But I dont see this being effective for long since most students have laptops and use them for class notes

@SadriBryanna Yes of course, more resources are great. However, I find these to be just tools in guiding the learning. In my opinion, what really influences learning is the methods and approaches the instructors chooses for their students. But I understand your pov too.

I agree that schools have the obligation to monitor the students when they are online, as long as the students are aware of this. There are more online dangers in this generation of social media, that it is crucial students safety is taken seriously. #lesson9 #educ307

@ArianeW87304298 I wouldn't say this social media platform isn't familiar but its not as popular here. But Facebooks is very popular in countries outside of North America.
