I'm watching westerns for getting Boot Hill vibes, following excellent advices from the (equally excellent) @dm_serious 's Drakonheim community. Maybe are they and pre-80's adventure films the cinematographic equivalent to Appendix N for reconnecting young males with cinema?

@WithNightDanger @archon I love this topic because it makes your brain explode: suddenly, you realise Conan is sitting on the throne of a kingdom that resembles Medieval France. (And then, that picture of Schwartznegger like Old Conan at the end of the film is totally inaccurate)

@archon @WithNightDanger I read somewhere that the main issue is interpreting Hyborea like Bronze/Iron Age instead of Medieval. Yeah, sandals and loincloths, but because in Conan stories people are poor...or stories take place in underdeveloped countries or in tropical climates.
