Ballot box biology is reshaping the fight over hunting in America. As anti-hunting groups increasingly bypass legislatures and take emotionally driven campaigns straight to voters, the hunting community faces a new reality: science alone is no longer enough.
In this powerful commentary, outdoor strategist and conservation leader Chris Dorsey of Sporting Classics TV explains why the future of hunting, and the conservation model it funds, may ultimately be decided in the court of public opinion.

Meet 2025/26 scholarship recipient Andrew Dotray, a Graduate Research Assistant pursuing his M.S. in Range and Wildlife Management at Sul Ross State University through the Borderlands Research Institute.
Raised in Lubbock, Texas, Andrew developed a passion for the outdoors through years of camping and wildlife exploration across the state. After earning his degree in Natural Resource Management from Texas Tech University, he worked on wildlife research projects ranging from coyote population studies in the Mojave Desert to endangered bird and big game research across Texas.
Andrew’s current research examines how aoudad population management impacts both aoudad and mule deer behavior, as well as disease dynamics in the Trans-Pecos region. His work will help provide valuable insight into wildlife management strategies and conservation efforts in fragile desert ecosystems.

Lieutenant (Ret.) Wayne T. Saunders is a nationally recognized leader in wildlife law enforcement whose life has been defined by one calling: protecting people, wildlife, and wild places.
From a childhood encounter with a New Hampshire game warden in the woods to a distinguished 23-year career with the New Hampshire Fish and Game Department, Saunders dedicated his service to the rugged Great North Woods—patrolling from Mount Washington to the Canadian border, leading search and rescue missions, and fighting wildlife crime on the front lines.
His career included responding to complex and dangerous assignments, rising to the rank of Lieutenant, commanding specialized units, and helping lead statewide conservation enforcement efforts. Even after being shot in the line of duty in 1997, he returned to service and continued his mission with unwavering commitment.
Today, Wayne continues his work beyond retirement as Executive Director of International Wildlife Crimestoppers, host of the "Warden’s Watch Podcast", an educator at White Mountains Community College, and co-author of "A Cowboy in the Woods"
🚨 Oregon’s hunting and fishing heritage is facing one of its biggest challenges yet.
Initiative Petition 28 has reportedly surpassed the signature threshold needed to move closer to Oregon’s November ballot. If certified, the measure could dramatically reshape hunting, fishing, trapping, livestock production, and wildlife management across the state. Opponents argue it would criminalize many traditional outdoor activities that generations of sportsmen, ranchers, and conservationists have relied upon.
