De Hemelpoort: Bestaat er iets na de dood?

Ik stel mij die vraag steeds vaker. Niet uit angst, maar uit nieuwsgierigheid. Je bereikt een leeftijd waarop de dood niet langer een abstract begrip is, maar een oude kennis die af en toe even komt informeren hoe het met je gaat.

En terwijl ik daarover nadenk, moet ik merkwaardig genoeg aan Johan Vollenbroek denken.

Niet alleen aan de man zelf. Maar ook aan wat hij symboliseert. En waarmee hij mij associeert

Sommige mensen sterven nooit. Hun lichaam wel, maar hun manier van kijken blijft als een schimmel achter op de muren van de samenleving. Een permanent laagje verontwaardiging dat zich vastzet op alles wat groeit, bloeit, bouwt of beweegt.

Misschien is dat wel het echte hiernamaals.

Niet een hemel met harpen of een hel met vuur. Maar een wereld waarin onze overtuigingen blijven rondwaren, lang nadat wijzelf verdwenen zijn.

De één laat kinderen achter. Een ander muziek. Een ander een uitvinding.

En weer een ander een stapel procedures.

Dan vraag ik mij af: als je straks boven aankomt, mocht er al een boven bestaan, waar word je dan op beoordeeld?

Niet op hoeveel rechtszaken je won.

Niet op hoeveel vergunningen je vernietigde.

Maar op een veel eenvoudiger vraag.

Heb jij de wereld groter gemaakt of kleiner?

Dat lijkt mij een ongemakkelijk gesprek.

“Welkom,” zegt de eeuwigheid. “Vertel eens… wat heb je van je leven gemaakt?”

“Ik heb voorkomen dat iemand een stal uitbreidde.”

Stilte.

“En verder?”

“Ik heb een woonwijk stilgelegd.”

Weer stilte.

“Nog iets?”

“Een snelweg vertraagd.”

Ik vermoed dat zelfs Petrus dan even zijn leesbril afzet.

Want uiteindelijk is de dood misschien wel de enige plaats waar procedures niet meer bestaan. Geen bezwaar, geen beroep, geen voorlopige voorziening. Alleen de vraag wat er van een mensenleven overblijft als alle dossiers zijn dichtgeslagen.

Daar, zonder formulieren en zonder uitstel, blijft er maar één maatstaf over: wat jouw aanwezigheid heeft toegevoegd aan de wereld van anderen.

Alles wat je tegenhield, vertraagde of blokkeerde verdwijnt geruisloos uit beeld.

Wat resteert, is wat je mogelijk maakte.

En dat is het enige dat de dood niet kan wegstrepen.

DO YOU KNOW ABOUT THE CANCER ACT 1939?

As it's actually a criminal act to cure cancer under 1939 cancer act which criminalizes medical practitioners from even advising patients on such cures, wouldn't that in fact make it a fraudulent act for cancer charity's to accept money under the presumption they will search for a cure but in fact it's a criminal act for them to even publicize such cures!

Check it yourself people, Google cancer act 1939, that's still active to this day and medical practitioners are being prosecuted, in America then jailed for curing cancer.

What the Act was for…

The original Act had several goals:

• Improve cancer treatment facilities across England and Wales (and parts of Scotland).

• Authorize government funding/loans for the National Radium Trust (radium was a key radiotherapy source at the time).

• Prohibit certain advertisements related to cancer.

Most parts of the Act have since been repealed or absorbed into later laws (like the NHS Acts and Medicines Act).

As of today, only the advertising restrictions remain in force.

It is illegal for anyone (individuals, companies, etc.) to publish or take part in any advertisement that:
• Offers to treat someone for cancer.
• Prescribes any remedy for cancer.
• Gives advice on cancer treatment.
