Check out our paper documenting #BarnSwallows that sometimes forget which nest is theirs, lay eggs in 2 neighboring nests, and try to make it work...this summer I observed another female in Missouri going back and forth trying to incubate 2 nests at once!

Our first barn swallow nestlings from a nest with a data logger hatched a couple days ago. Today, these little aliens were weighed and each had one toenail clipped so we can track their growth
Today we deployed our first egg data logger. This will collect temperature data every minute through incubation and the first 5 days after the nestlings hatch. Thanks to @AmandaHund for lending us the loggers for the summer!
Kicking off spring break by checking nest boxes with @MelissaBailey_7 at the @TrumanState farm. Good to be back out in the field. Now we just need some spring weather #bluebirds
