There are schools, esp private, in Eastern Europe that actively train students to participate in these competitions. There is also a βconditioningβ and doing previous years exercises component to be successful at IMO. A French and German public school doesnβt care and it is the students own initiative to be part of - most dont care. Speaking of experience.
It just seems implausible this is what we are made of, essentially, nanotechnology about a billion years beyond anything we can design or make ourselves.
Derivative market participants are classified in (i) speculators, (ii) hedgers, and (iii) arbitrageurs.
The perspective you have taken in your write-up is from a speculator perspective and I do agree that predition/bounty/opinion markets facilitate the speculative part. Still hedger's (e.g. Airlines & oil price, (re)insurance), etc. ) require more sophisticated products incorporating different variables to protect themselves from volatility (~airline) or fattail risk (~insurance).
I guess that where the arbitrageurs will be active bridging easy speculative prediction markets with sophisticated hedging derivatives

@Theonlyjcvolly it's mainly alpha radiation (=Helium-nucleids) which don't pass through skin, travels few cm. Important to have a mask to not inhale it. Beta radiation (= electrons) require distance. They can't protect of gamma radiation (eletromagnetic waves), need to limit time of exposure
@maruushae Itβs supply and demand . the more niche you get and in math they are actual as ever. it gets very price esp when it needs to be imported eg into France. In recent years more and more use English books that made them more affordable but still.
@maruushae P.s. think the biggest problems are kawai latex girl friend dopamine receptors so best go with "introduction" (i did do that in an earlier life)
I would recommend to go by "Elements". "Introduction" is the same book and spec'ed down version so that the authors can make additional money. A lot of proofs etc are omitted and replaced with Python codes. I would go with the Bishop which is something in between (https://t.co/4jrQtkm08U) and have the murphy (https://t.co/evmxeaIYVx) as primer (murphy is a must own!)
