ChatGPT, Claude and Grok all experienced major service disruptions on September 3. ChatGPT alone generated more than 37,000 outage reports at its peak, while Claude and Grok also saw sharp spikes.

The interesting part isn’t simply that three chatbots went down.

It’s that three competing AI ecosystems experienced problems within roughly the same window. The exact connection remains unclear; reporting so far does not establish a common cause. Claude attributed its incident to infrastructure issues, while OpenAI reported elevated errors across ChatGPT and Codex.

Why X should care:
