The situation is not good in NorthEast London. At my hospital, we are over double our normal ICU capacity, with a reduced nurse:patient ratio. We are converting elective surgery wards to respiratory wards. A&Es and @Ldn_Ambulance are overwhelmed.

We have now taken the decision to stop all visiting to our wards to protect patients, staff and the general public. Exceptions are our children’s ward and maternity unit. There are also exceptions for some carers, and relatives of patients at the end of life.
