YAPPING 🤓
The person who used this sports-practice analogy is Aim Lab's co-founder Wayne Mackey, and the analogy is wrong, the 3 point practice is being done using the same ball, shooting the same hoop, in the same court, this is more equivalent to a firing range in the game you play.
The gym analogy aim trainers mains like to use is closer, but this is how I personally see this gym:
A gym with no floor plan, 100,000 machines (scenarios), a 1,000 trainers (coaches) shouting contradicting advice, and the single most popular machine (scenario) is the one most coaches call utterly useless (gridshot, tile frenzy)
I'm NOT saying aim trainers don't work, I believe they do. It’s just that the hardest part by far is to try to find the 1 correct path out of the 1,000 wrong ones.
And the most common response to "Aim training didn't work for me" is something along the lines of "The tool works, and the failures misused it." What result could ever disprove that?
If you improve > the aim trainer worked.
If you don't > you did it wrong. Wrong scenario, wrong difficulty, missing foundations, bad mentality, too much time, too little.
XDDD???
Aim trainers have evolved a lot since 2018, you guys now have your own category on Twitch, tournaments, Esports scene, ranks, and much much more.
There needs to be a clear separation between Radiant Robert and Celestial Christopher, the guy trying to improve in video games and the guy trying to get celestial. Because as of now there isn’t, both of these players are given the same advice, same resources, same guides, same YouTube content, where in reality they need a different path due to having different goals.
Just an example, see attachment below
Who do I as a new player listen to? ProGuides (owned by StateSpace who owns Aim Labs) or Viscose (Voltaic Member, Voltaic is partnered with Aim Labs)
In comparison to lg duels or any other 1v1 duel improvement training method, people seem to be getting better results, and my theory is because the path to improvement is clearer, you don’t need to watch hours upon hours of videos warning you about misuse of the tool.
Both communities are suffering from a knowledge problem, while LG has too little, aim trainers have too much.
And I cannot scientifically prove or promise that LG or ow1v1s will 100% improve you, it’s based on my personal experience and others that I know. At the end of the day it’s survivorship bias, you don’t hear about the failures, only the people who succeed.
There is going to be a long-form video about this exact topic, the full history and how these misconceptions actually formed, more than a single post can explain.
